Discussion for article #227169
The likelihood of it EVER being done by a Republican majority in the House or Senate is slim and none.
No matter what, recent events have provided evidence that the border is not sufficiently secured, and it needs to be.
That’s a bi-partisan issue.
I am so sick of this lie that we have to secure the border before anything can be done about immigration reform. An insecure border is NOT why people are coming illegally or in a temporary legal status such as tourists or those on work visas. It’s what happens after they cross the border or come by other means that brings them here. Change what encourages them to come and border crossings will be down to a trickle.
Secure the border first is just an excuse to do nothing. I’m sure thinking people have figured this out long ago.
Well… in the republican mind, ‘secure the border’ means to build a wall that is perpetually taller than any ladder (present or future) ever made. And ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ means packing any suspected illegals onto cattle cars and running them across the border.
It is a cross between ‘Magical Thinking’ an Poland circa 1941.
