I liked him. I hope he isnât leaving due to some hidden scandal that has yet to be revealed or that he has some illness he doesnât want to share. He had a nice ride for the most part. âUp Close and Personalâ however started to get a little stale after awhile as evidenced by the flashy graphics and video packages to sell the bit, but he did know his Olympic history frontwards and back, which I always appreciated.
AnywayâŚmoving on.
Sadly Iâm guessing hidden scandal.
Edit: I donât usually bitch about what articles TPM posts, but this is an interesting one for a political site to post.
He had a good run and, at 66, heâs ripe for retirement.
I can see someone maybe hiring him as a consultant in a bit, but for now, enjoy.
Iâll miss his dulcet tones.
I think the NFL freaked out when BC said something about the their sport destroying brains. I think his relationship with NBC started to fray at that point. He is one of the best.
Given his earlier statements about wanting to do things more like Brokaw, Iâm guessing the âscandalâ is about creative control and personal discretion on projects. I suspect he wanted to do some multi-part mini-series (plural) and/or multi-hour deep dives into topic around sports, and the network didnât want to pay for material itâs not sure it can really use.
I was never a big sports guy, and I never really liked Costas at all, but I must admit the guy has always had fabulous hair!
although (and I speak as a person who would register as a republican if they would give me a face lift for joining)
the work heâs had done looks a little artificial.
Ditto.
I remember thinking when I first saw him on network sports, âWhoâs this kid?â
Getting old isnât all that much fun.
Looks like he got the âRedfordâ work, which for Costas is a shame and for Redford was a crime.
Agree, he is and was a classy guy. I think he also got some flak from some viewers over issues that intersected with sports. Maybe it was about guns, brain injuries, or players taking a knee? I donât quite remember.
They should all get the number of Jane Fondaâs plastic surgeon. She looks incredible. Of course, it doesnât hurt to have the body of a 21-year-old woman due to Jane doing aerobics for over 40 years.
I prefer Peter Gammons as a baseball historian, reporter and analyst. And Peter Gammons, because of age, his stroke or whatever, is no longer on ESPN or MLB Network. I am sure Bob Costas has been paid handsomely for his time as the main NBC Sports announcer. I am not terribly interested in his reasons for moving on from NBC. Perhaps I am glad not to have to see or hear him ubiquitously. And ditto on why this is front page TPM.
I donât think Redford has had any work done. I saw a recent picture of him, and his face, though still handsome, looked as crumpled as a paper bag.
The had a sale on pixels at Costco and got the biggest package, so they had to use them before they expired. No harm done, the price was great and wonât affect the availability of pixels for other stories.
The work was from around 15 years ago. Looked wrong for a few years and then he grew into it. I donât know if he ever confirmed or denied it and I could be wrong.
I wonder how Kirby Puckett feels about this.
