I saw this crawl across the screen about an hour ago, and it made my heart hurt. No good reason to pardon this guy except that he is a crony, early supporter and another crazy birther.
I have a friend who had a family member die in Apaio’s tent city prison about 15 years ago - she was a diabetic and the guards ignored it while her tentmate kept telling them that she was really sick. She ended up dying of acute ketoacidosis and dehydration which turned into multiorgan failure by the time they got her to the hospital. Meanwhile this guy was being celebrated as “the toughest sheriff in America”. This guy is about as tough as Trump - another bullying racist who would cry if someone punched them in the face.
No one deserves to spend some time in jail more than Joe Arpaio. People are saying the case was flawed and, after all, he is out of office and he is 85 years old. Tell that to all of the people whose lives were ruined at this man’s hands.
What a horrible misuse of the presidential pardon.

My son some years ago went out for a few beers with buddies…He decided to head home and when he was parking his truck he tapped the bumper of another car. Being an honest upright guy he called his insurance company, the owner of the car he tapped and the police to report what had happened.
Short version of this is my son spent a weekend in tent city. Courtesy of Sheriff Joe.
I taught my son to do what is right and honest and the system screwed him. Well maybe to put a finer point on it Sheriff Joe taught him (and me) a different lesson.
And now Joe has been pardoned.
