Discussion: Bill O'Reilly Thinks It's Time For A Mercy Killing At MSNBC (VIDEO)

I use the childblock feature on my all my TVs to block anyone from watching Fox News or Fox Business News. I don’t want to even accidentally watch Fox.

"It’s not a news organization, alright? It’s a cable channel that promotes left-wing causes. Not a news organization. "

Not a news organization? They exist only to promote political causes? Mr. Pot, I’d like to introduce you to Mr. Kettle.

How can that be since he’s so “pro-life” and all?

So true.

There is a direct correlation to the vapidity and cruelty of Right wing public rhetoric and its politicians and the almost addictive needs of their consumers.

These addictions require reinforcement, in the form of FUX, Talk Radio and the like.

In addition, those issues central to most Progressives (jobs, climate, infrastructure, healthcare, gender issues, immigration, etc.) do not lend themselves as readily to demagoguery as what passes for “news” and “commentary” on the Right.

Lastly, Bill O’Reilly is a Fucking Idiot.

It reminds me of an old saying: O’Reilly’s “a big fish in a small pond”.

Outside of cable news (aka old timer communication medium dying a slow and inevitable death), no one gives a rat’s a$$ about O’Reilly. Except for O’Reilly of course.

The man’s a GIANT!!! … in his own mind.

Oh William, just substitute ‘right-wing’ for ‘left-wing’ in your quote and you’d be describing Fox News, no?

You make a pile of crap sound popular, but it’s still a pile of crap.

To summarize: Network (free NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS)>>> basic cable (some cost for Fox, CNN) > premium cable (costly MSNBC, Comedy Central, etc.). Is it any surprise Fox beats MSNBC and loses to Network solely based on price? From the cost viewpoint, MSNBC is doing pretty well.

However, I channel surf through MSNBC because they have so many freakin’ commercials! I am also sure that their entire weekend of prison lockup shows (who watches that?) brings their overall numbers way down.

Is O’Reilly related to Donald Trump?? They both spend an inordinate amount of time feeding their own egos touting their intelligence, popularity, and righteousness. Pity the poor slobs, both of them.

Beat me to it.

Fear, hatred and stupidity sell, just ask any loyal Faux viewer…Billo still doesn’t understand that “ratings” are merely a means of setting advertising rates which in today’s media malangeare getting noticeably more inconsequential. …the average person is looking for a credible source of news and information. Anyone looking for these things would not waste their time tuning into Faux.

If there has been a fall off, it’s largely because the news hasn’t had a lot to offer these days, aside from Ebola scares and experts telling us (yes, even on MSNBC) that the president’s strategy re ISIS is a ‘failure.’ Not a whole lot to see there.

The rest of the last couple of months was about the NFL, about which I do not care one whit.

Where are the old days of great investigative reporting, like Rachel did with C Street and the Koch Bros./AFP? And Kornacki on Bridgegate?

I think everyone’s holding their breath before the elections. And they are terrified of predicting it incorrectly.

A few things are good–Hayes’ interviews with the S. Dakota candidates (minus Rounds) was very informative.

But they need to dig, dig, dig more.

Howie the Putz is so bad that he really ought to apologize for living.

As it is, he’s dragging down the national IQ every time he speaks.

Actually, MSNBC’s prison programming is fairly popular and brings in ad dollars.

Now thats some serious projection…

FoxNews isn’t basic cable at all, but it is present with MSNBC on the Queens/Brookling channel lineup under Standard TV.

Haven’t had cable for years, so I never encounter Fox. I do remember many years back when I did have cable, and Fox News was young. I used to channel surf with the sound off (to avoid getting blasted with commercials), and I came upon Bill O’Reilly expounding. I remember looking at him, without sound, and saying to myself, “That guy’s an asshole.” Even just from his face, you could tell.

Boy, Howie Kurtz is really a pitiful little creature at this point. The guy was a legitimate media critic and he’s thrown all his credibility away.

Maybe there, but for the biggies like Dish, you can get Fox news in your $19.99 a month package.

ETA: 19.99 is basic programming in my book.
