Discussion for article #235426
the ‘girlfriend experience.
Yup, Thai hos and Republicans…Once short of cash Kentucky egotist and Tea Party nutbag Matt Bevin is already buying airtime for very slick, obviously billionaire-paid, Bevin for Governor spots that promise to “dismantle Kynect”. Bevin’s tired 3rd base must have that squished, billionaire-fondled look…
Galileo was not persecuted by scientists. He was persecuted by the Church. Scientists are still being persecuted by religious extremists, and Cruz is one of the persecutors, pretending to be a victim.
What Maher is doing here, railing against a R pol, is similar to what right wing radio talkers do. They have a progressive du jour, tear him or her to shreds, and we say that’s awful, how dare they do this, they don’t lead the Democratic Party. If there’s a difference in a left wing talker doing this to an R, even one as odious as Cruz, I don’t see the difference.
What Maher did was put the lie to Cruz’ claim that he was like Galileo.
Every word Maher said was true.
That is vastly different than what right-wing hate-radio smear merchants do.
They lie with every breath.
The difference is that what Maher said is truth, and he was pointing out Cruz’s fallacy, which doesn’t ever happen when he spouts his nonsense. It is nothing at all like Rush calling a woman a slut because she is on birth control; or calling the President a socialist Muslim Socialist. Or going after HILLARY because she had lunch!
The difference is actually quite remarkable IMHO. We let stuff go by WAAAY too often. I wish someone with an audience would make the point that when Marco Rubio made his comment about “taxing and regulating like it’s 1999,” how ignorant it was to say because every section of the economy was doing so well at that time. X
Cruz – leader of TeaPubs who are proud of being terminally stupid …
Wonder how many of his ted-ophiles even know who Galileo is?
Well if you don’t see the difference then you need to either have some more coffee, lay off the drugs or loosen the screws on your tin-foil hat.
And to think Cruz isn’t even Muslim.
I watched last night’s show and CNBC’s Michelle Caruso-Cabrera used Kansas’ new welfare law as an example for why Social Security should be privatized. That’s both a fundamental misunderstanding of how SSI works and an example of the right wing mindset.
The thing that amazes me is when Caruso-Cabrera was backed into a corner with the real world example of what happened to the market in 2007, she just shrugged and denied that if SS had been privatized like she and George W. wanted, it would have hurt a lot of our elderly population BIG TIME. What in the hell is wrong with people like that? No empathy gene?
Oh, geez…don’t have HBO, and the audio podcast isn’t available until next week. Better listen at home – don’t want to be screaming at my phone in public.
(BTW, SSI is Supplemental Security Income, a separate program from standard Social Security, and separately funded. If that’s what she was talking about, she’s even more ignorant than the typical CNBC mouthpiece.)
Ted Cruz is no better than an Iranian Mullah, doing everything he can to drag society back into the Dark Ages.
That’s because it’s the swing voters that determine every election. What Maher is doing is pointing out the obvious logical fallacies in the Republican arguments against climate change.
As an aside, I had to chuckle at Maher chiding Marco Rubio as being mistaken for being one of Hillary’s domestics.
Rubio is one Anglo parent away from being like Ted Cruz.
Not quite there, in Anglo-dom.
And this is what happens to people clamoring to out-“conservative” the “Real Muricans”. Somewhere down the line, one can be reminded as to how one really appears to the Herrenvolk.
Batshit crazy anonymous and invisible commentator insults an avatar.
When I’m presented with a reasonable case for what Maher said, I will defer to it.
I’ve never believed in unilateral disarmament. Facts are facts. The process works with people of a certain mind set.
You can’t see Maher’s logic for your outrage at his outrage? Really?
You want me to be outraged at Maher’s outrage? I don’t think so. Soon enough Maher will say something that people object to, and the outrage will be directed at him alone, not at a crazy pol. But this also means you didn’t read my reply to Thunderclap.
