Discussion: Bill Clinton: I Think Donald Trump Could Be The Republican Nominee

He is not singing praises. Identifying Trump as a master brander is not an endorsement for supposed political acumen. It’s actually a subtle putdown. Remember when BC was asked to comment on Rick Perry? - he lavished praise on his physical appearance.

I absolutely would Not take what he is saying at face value.
The man’s a Fox.

Ha! The expert trolling is perfectly timed! Bill is trying to terrify the GOP establishment by trying to make Trump winning the nomination something very possible and maybe expected! He’s casually throwing all the conventional wisdom under the bus to soften up the crowd for more Trump! I love it.

Oh I think Gary’s just getting started. AND for those who remember, Bloom County is back …but it’s on Facebook which I refuse to join. One can read the strips however. Opus, Bill the Cat, Milo and the other characters have been revived…

All the people with their heads in the sand.

If people recognize only one name on the ballet - they pick it. If they recognize only two, and one starts with Hillary, they pick the other one.

They’re also here (delayed by a week), along with all the archives, though it’s difficult to navigate except by date (the older ones used to be at thecomicstrips.com until just a month or so ago, which was both searchable and harder to pirate; I’m not sure why he switched): http://www.gocomics.com/bloom-county

I’m still waiting for someone to provide a solid reason why Trump can’t win the nomination. All I hear is conventional, Beltway wisdom about party bosses having so much control, which completely ignores the fact that if the party bosses had any control Trump wouldn’t be in the running in the first place, nor would several others. If Trump can convince enough of the base (people who are already convinced that Obama wasn’t born here, isn’t American but Ted Cruz is, and is somehow an Atheist Muslim Socialist, weak, ruthless, feckless, dictator) that he can “Make America Great Again”, there’s no credible reason why he can’t win the nomination. He’s got the money and the name recognition to go the distance. The only thing really standing in his way is his mouth.

If anything says 'pleasepleasepleasepleasseplease" it’s that look on Big Bill’s face when he thinks about Big Door being the GOP nominee.

SANDERS IS GOING TO DEFEAT CLINTON

Already narrowed the gap from 34% to 7%! THAT’S AMAZING…AND IT’S REAL!

“In the poll, conducted among Democratic primary voters Sept. 20-24, Clinton led Sanders 42 percent to 35 percent. While the new poll isn’t necessarily an indicator of who will win the contest, the 7-point difference shows a big change from just two months ago. In July, Clinton led Sanders by 34 percentage points, with 59 percent to his 25 percent.”

The more people get to know him, the more they like him.

“Vice President Joe Biden, who is still considering whether or not to run, also earned the support of 17 percent of those surveyed. When those conducting the survey removed Biden from the field, Clinton’s lead over Sanders increased – she led him 53 percent to 38 percent.”

When you look at HuffPo’s aggregate polling, Clinton is at 43.2%, Sanders at 27.1%, and Biden is at 19.5%.

I’m thinking you answered your own question. The man’s an asshat used car salesman (apologies to any car dealer here) in my estimation. While we are on the subject:

By way of retort

This is the sort of stuff I treasured about Bloom County.

IMO, his mouth is why he can’t win the presidency, but if that was a problem for Republicans neither McCain nor Romney would’ve won the nomination either. And Sarah Palin would’ve never, ever been nominated, let alone go on to become a rock star in the party*.

*These days she’s more like an 80’s, one hit wonder, has been, rock star with a nasty drug problem who still does rambling, incoherent shows at the Holiday Inn bar on Open Mic night.

My impression of Sister Sarah is wrapped up in that house party where the clan showed up uninvited and Barstool (That’s Bristol for the polite folk) proceeded to get in a drunken brawl while Sarah bellowed “Don’t you know who I am?”" as if anyone really cared at that point.

In the early days, before he declared and for a good while afterward, all the commentators pointed out how high his negatives were among Republican voters. It seems that’s changing, so sure, he could win the nomination. At this point I think GOP voters are pretty much comparable to an invasion of zombies—mindless, destructive brain-eaters who’d wipe out the human race if they got powerful enough. You can’t assume that the GOP voters as a whole have enough collective wisdom to see how uniquely disastrous a Trump presidency would be. For the sake of what I laughingly call my mental health I still choose to believe it’s inconceivable that he could win the general. It could happen, I just can’t conceive of it happening.

If Trump wins this race then I’m gonna be building a bunker in my back yard and stocking it with my favorite stuff. Or alternatively snagging a six pack and heading for my roof to watch the apocalypse and kiss my ass goodbye. Depending on how long I have.

It’s epic if it’s ultimately effective, or if something is. Right now many have no confidence in Hillary.

Might be wise to begin looking into political asylum in Canada. Montreal is a very cosmopolitan town, I wouldn’t mind living there one bit. The country generally has much to recommend it. Awfully close to the States given that Trump would undoubtedly start a worldwide nuclear war, though. Micronesia’s an option. The important thing is to start planning now.
