Discussion: Biden Cancels Illinois Dems Appearance Due To 'Doctor's Orders Not To Travel'

“Everyone who knows Vice President Biden knows that he gives our party and our country his all, but unfortunately he is sick and is under doctor’s orders not to travel.”

He's just seeing the wrong doctor. If Dr. Harold Bornstein was his physician he'd be the healthiest ex-Vice-President in history!!

Sorry to hear this, but let’s face it: If he were 55 instead of 75, the doctor would not have issued such orders.

I love Joe, and I know that tRump says he’s the only Democrat that hair Furor is worried about, but Joe is not the standard-bearer for 2020. He’s served his country well for a long time (apart from that regrettable incident with the Clarence Thomas hearing), but it’s time for him to start his ride into the Sunset.

If by country… you mean MBNA, I agree.

It’s possible he has something contagious.

It’s called being elderly. And not only does the entire Dem leadership have it, but one day we all will too!!!

Don’t get me wrong. I’ve got nothing against my elders. I’m somewhat elder myself. But nothing wrong with handing the reigns off to a younger generation. Joe and Pelosi can still mentor and lead from behind the scenes. But its not helping with the young vote.

Don’t get me wrong–I mostly agree with what you say. But I don’t think we can make assumptions.

Well he did seem to stay out of the way and let Obama do good things. Sadly it says a lot for a white guy of his age.

then the young vote needs to show up at the polls.

Joe needs to go enjoy a ride in his Firebird and realize he may never do that again if he runs for and wins office.

Old age and the processing of aging fortunately is not contagious. If he ran in 2020 he be 78 or so and for the party which is on a quest for youth and beauty he’d be about the worst choice ever.

@edhedh I suspect because @old_curmudgeon calls himself old, he might know whereof he speaks. Old age begins at 65 so Joe qualifies as old. And too old to run as that brand new shiny face the party talks about as needing badly to keep voters.

@dont They can step aside only when there are enough people coming up behind them to fill the void their experience will leave.

I’m 70+. Joe and the rest of the 70+ D’s, including Warren, Bernie et. need to step aside, get out of the way, or whatever. We need a new approach.

my problem with the comment is that it suggested the reason the doctor told him not to fly is because he was old. you, more than anyone on this blog, know that there are all kinds of reasons that doctors tell people not to fly. i’m 69 and would suggest “old” is different for each person. look at ginsburg.

Why is it you think I know why doctors tell their patients not to fly? I’m the patient at all times, never the consulting doctor. A head cold, something in the ears or the lungs, a backache, it’s anybody’s guess.

Me too. I don’t mind stepping aside but, by God they better listen to me!

Nicely done bonivant! Beat me to it. Now I don’t have to listen to the hystericals.

Biden’s Bankrutpcy Act brought debtor prisons to America. Good old middle-class Joe.

Biden is part of the failed politics of the last administration. He should not run in 2020.

So… what you’re saying is I’m a couple of years past old?
To answer your question last weekend about gardening being good for the soul. Yes it is. I do it mostly because it’s great to eat fresh vegetables and lose my winter weight. I’ve lost 12 pounds since I started eating my Jericho romaine lettuce in mid June. Then came the broccoli, eggplants, cabbage, sweetcorn and tomatoes. My neighbor gives me half his cucumbers. Now, I have to start running my three miles three times a week again. I quit when the weather in Minnesota turned real cold last December. Been procrastinating staring up. I started running in 2004, this is the first year I have not done it regularly since I started.
