Discussion: Bernie Sanders Slams GOP On Voting Rights: 'They're Political Cowards!'

To the contrary, Bernie’s track record has been, from the beginning, to bring together opposing groups and getting them to work together. Where Obama’s track record was one of success through compromise Bernie’s has been one of increasing public participation and persuading opposing sides that what he was proposing was good for the community. I believe he will make very effective use of the bully-pulpit, something Obama did not do at all, to the cost of all of us. We could have had at a minimum The Public Option, and maybe even medicare for all if he had go to the American people for support instead of to the insurance companies and pharmaceuticals to craft something they would not oppose.

The problem with Hillary if she wins the general is that the Republicans hate her so much that she will be able to get nothing through congress. I forget who said it within recent weeks but one Republican said they would impeach her the day she takes office. And they mean.
Whereas Bernie has a long record of getting different sides together around his ideas.

OK, I hear you, but what do you say to the argument that we made it our problem when we created chaos in Iraq with our unnecessary invasion and disastrous occupation, and failed nation-building, and now we can’t just walk away and say “it’s their problem.” Not saying you’re wrong, maybe walking away is the least-worst option, within the set of very bad options that are before us. I honestly don’t know.

Republicans hate everyone.

Bernie would fare no better than you claim Hillary would do.

Yeah, I tend to agree. Republicans would try to obstruct Bernie’s initiatives just as much as they would try to obstruct Hillary’s, and in some cases more. The key in both cases would be taking back control of Congress, which will take several election cycles.

That’s going to happen with any democrat. Someone said it, on this site, on another chat board…Republcians, especially Repub voters, feel their entitled to rule. So, when they lose, the fix is in…the “we need to take our country back!” rhetoric will start. So, they’ll sabotage the country in order to regain rule, just like they did a couple of years back…

So, regardless if it’s Hillary, Bernie or O’Malley…it all will start again.

I mean think about the Republican tact-- We will work to block any legislation a Dem president wants! We will, willfully, destroy the government and the country, if need be, to stop them from getting anything done! So, if you want anything done…elect one of us! Or else!

I mean…

The Democratic party seems to be totally focused on winning the Presidency to the exclusion of everything else. You are right Democrats can do both, but not if they willfully ignore party building at the state level, especially in the 25 states they have gifted the Republicans.

Totally agree. Try to talk Wasserman-Schultz and her fundraiser Vice Chairs into that kind of thinking. If you do I will throw in with you.

I have no direct experience, but my understanding is that commando is the only way a true Scotsman would wear a kilt.

Are you really that obtuse?

Or even worse - a will-o-the-wisp.

Political cowards? No, traitors that belong in front of a firing squad. What used to be called, in a nicer way, un-American activities. There are democrats in league with them and deserve the same. Actual enemies couldn’t do the harm republicans do since they are on the inside and supposedly patriotic Americans. Right. Hard to imagine, why do they do harm and seem to hate everything about America?
