Sometimes I think that one of Bernie’s problems is his tendency to surround himself with hyper-promoting jerks. On the one hand they make up for his own relatively low-hype persona, but on the other you get kerfuffles like this.

Hillary supporters – Your candidate is quite likely to be the next President of the USA, and as such will most likely have the opportunity to meet the Pope, and probably for more than 5 minutes.
The fact that we have a Pope who is lending his influential voice on important progressive issues like inequality and climate change, while also de-emphasizing and (at least slightly) moderating some of the Church’s more regressive social policies, is all good news for a likely future President Hillary.
And the next Pope is going to be just as popular among progressives and we will be just as happy if the next Pope dabbles in American politics? Fine by us if the Vatican’s views prevail on contraception and choice at the Supreme Court? And when does an American President get a chance to influence who will be elected next Pope?

Please spare me the hysteria. What this Pope IS doing is calling attention to global warming, wealth inequality, and if anything, has been softening the status of the RCC on birth control. Aren’t those things the left ought to welcome?
Good grief, don’t trip in your rush to somehow portray this as evil. It isn’t and you are smart enough to know that. This trip will help the eventual democratic nominee, period.
Bernie may be a secular jew but his views are more Christian than that of Cruz. Never mind Trump, he know little or nothing about being Christian.
