Call him a deserter, fine, but who are you to judge whether he’s “yellow” or not?
His deserting may have been more courageous than anything you’ve done or will ever do in your life.

Sorry, babe, but as a Veteran I believe I have the right to call him for what he is a yellow, coward deserter.
I’m a veteran too mound but have never noticed that that part of my past has increased the ability to look into a persons mind and soul to ascertain their motivations or courage. How pray tell did your service impart that magical ability onto you?
While on the one hand, I wouldn’t want to see Bergdahl walk free for his crime, I think that it’s worth it to illustrate to that fucking moron of a fake president that his endless idiotic jabbering really does have consequences. Dismiss the case.
Fondly recalling the quaint practices popular during Operation Condor Duterte fan Dotard also said Bergdahl should be 'thrown out of a plane without a parachute."
I hope the judge tosses the case and cites Comrade Cockholster as the cause.
Of course, I should have realized that he could have had noble thoughts and motives when he walked away from his post, which subsequently caused others to be wounded searching for him. Personally, if the punishment was available I would send the coward to the a firing squad.
Trump still has dementia.
Trump clearly received competent legal advice about what he could and couldn’t say in public about the Bergdahl case. He referred to this advice when he violated it by inviting the reporters to check out what he had said about Bergdahl on the campaign trail, but had been told he couldn’t say now, lest he screw the pooch.
Well, once again, Trump has indeed screwed this pooch, as he has so many before during his tenure in office. He just as clearly had received even more extensive coaching on what he could and couldn’t say about the Comey firing, and screwed that pooch so royally that it will probably cost him the WH.
Can you imagine what would happen if Trump ever had to give a deposition? In his first ten sentences he would perjure himself a dozen times to avoid incriminating himself, while volunteering information he wasn’t even asked for that incriminates him in two dozen more crimes, only about 50% of which would be the crimes they’re after him for. I could almost feel sorry for his lawyers.
Military courts martial; “Give 'em a fair trial, consider all the evidence and hang 'em”.
It has always been that way: “There is no justice in military justice”.
He didn’t though, and referred to his previous remarks which was repeating them without saying them. Try reading the article.
Didn’t he give a videoed deposition in some tax case or whatever it was where he didn’t remember anything or anyone, like longtime close associates, over and over?
Has the judge put in his retirement papers? No? So that tells you all you need to know.
Other than Trump’s maunderings about the case, I kinda wonder what considerations will go into the sentencing. As far as punishment goes, indications are that Bergdahl is currently broken, assuming he wasn’t so even before he deserted. As far as deterrence goes, there aren’t likely a lot of people considering walking off their posts into the middle of hostile territory. And other soldiers will be responsible for guarding him. For all we know, life in a sharply-controlled environment might be about right for him.
sorry, couldn’t agree with you less….it’s like cops investigating cops or lawyers investigating lawyers or doctors investigating doctors……it just doesn’t lead to any kind of fairness. It’s nothing but a sham. Let’s build a little straw man here….let’s say that the president that secured the release of Bergdahl was white and a republican. Do you really think we would be having this discussion? It would all been swept into the dustbin of history by now. Bergdahl getting maybe 3 years (which he has already served) and a less than honorable discharge.
Would tossing the case involve a plane or a parachute?
“…sorry, couldn’t agree with you less…”
Not sure what you disagree with. We’re in the same church if not in the same pew. I thought that would be apparent from my comments. “No justice in military justice”. That’s what the old soldiers have said for generations.
Not sure what his sentence will be. Afraid to guess other than that he wlll get some time in the jug.
I see the military as bearing the brunt of responsibility for this sad tale. They knew he was unsuited for service before the army accepted him into its ranks. https://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/12/us/bowe-bergdahl-discharged-from-coast-guard-before-joining-army.html
I would tend to think it would be more accurate to say… “Give 'em a trial, ignore all the evidence and then cover our asses”….but you’re right……there is no justice for the victims in military justice
