If you canāt demonize a football player-sized guy who smashes a woman in the face and knocks her out, I think weāre running dangerously close to not having anyone at all we can demonize. And these family-values conservatives who are saving the country from its headlong hellward plunge should avoid sounding like, I hardly dare say it, moral relativists.

Thatās for sure and whatās scary is - I agree with him on this one - not excusing the behavior but the media sure loves to tear down black athletes,as if domestic violence is a black issue.
Well, i donāt like what he did either, but there does seem to be a pattern by the media to demonize black athletes - remember Richard Sherman - when they called him a thug because they didnāt like his behavior after the Super Bowl game? Just one of many incidents where the media loves to hold up black athletes to a standard that white athletes are not held to. Compare that to the little if any demonizing of Richie Incognito?

Richard Sherman didnāt beat his SO up and get a slap on the wrist for it.
And if weāre to stop demonizing Ray Rice for beating his wife up, why donāt we stop demonizing rapists as well? If Rice has anger problems, he shouldāve sought the help he needed before he decided to beat his wife up. There is no excuse for what Rice did, and he deserves every bit of crap he gets.

Iām sure the money is a factor. But often, thereās a belief that heās a really troubled person who needs you, that youāre tough enough to stand up to it and help him, and youāre the only one who can help, moves into sudden realization that youāve been systematically isolated from friends, family and outside contact, and then internalization of the blame, and finally into a pervasive, and objectively justified, belief that heāll kill you if you leave him.

Well, if ādemonizeā means unfairly exaggerate the badness of someone you feel has done wrong, we shouldnāt demonize anyone. No you havenāt and I havenāt either and Carson is pretty despicable. However, the point I was trying to make albeit not very well, is that the media is all to anxious to demonize black athletes. I am not condoning what Ray Rice did or any other athlete who commits acts of violence, but black athletes (no matter who) seem to suffer more wrath than their white counterparts. Itās the way I see it.
I remember the shit storm that went on for weeks after Richard Sherman said what he did about one of the San Francisco players. I thought it was way over the top as opposed to how little we heard about Richie Incognito and other white racist players). This is not a figment of my imagination,
