Discussion: Ben Carson: Military Shouldn't Worry About Fighting 'Politically Correct' War

Discussion for article #233313

Now that is brilliant foreign policy!! I can’t wait to see him in the debates

Is there any way we can all agree not to use that goofy “politically correct” term? It’s silly meaningless spew.

OK then. Pitch out the Geneva accords and let atrocity roll.

Hmmm, so apparently rape, torture, and chemical weapons are just ‘politically incorrect.’

This type of lunacy has become mainstream within the Republican party. They must be so proud of what they’ve become!

Is it ‘politically incorrect’ to call Ben Carson a sociopath and question his commitment to Christianity?

So it’s the old: “Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out.” How enlightened.

Their contempt for standards of decency and fairness can be measured by the right wing’s indiscriminate overuse of “politically correct.”
Dr. Carson, just as right wingers love to call out use of the “race card,” I am calling out your use of the “politically correct” card.
And the decision to not prosecute would be made by the host country, not ours.

Rules of war are intended to limit the devastation of war and allow us to keep our humanity.

How can someone who is so brilliant in certain disciplines be so completely ignorant in others?

This clown and his ilk ignore that there is a real actual thing called the Uniform Code of Military Justice which all members of the military are held to, along with international rules and treaties to which we have agreed. Yet he seems to be suggesting that it’s ok to ignore these rules and codes because ISIS? and somehow this is different from ISIS how? It’s all in the first wire of their name, I guess. They’d destroy what tenuous civilization we might still have. Evil is not restricted to the so-called enemy…

Reminds me of Dick Cheney’s “take the gloves off” quote. Look how well that worked out.

Worked in Higher Ed and academic medicine and knew any number of “brilliant” practitioners who were fine as long as they were in their fields. An MD/PhD is no assurance of brilliance beyond their specialty. Surgeons - some to be sure - could be excellent in their specialty and arrogant know-nothings in other areas. Some very credentialed folks could not be trusted to find their way out of a box. I fear Dr. Ben cannot be trusted because he IS out of his box - like a number of MD members of congress who have left whatever bit of science and other knowledge they learned over time and lost or abandoned it long ago…

Are we really supposed to care about what Mr. Here Today, Gone Tomorrow thinks? Benjamin Neurology is looking for a pay day and nothing more.

And those rules have been in place for centuries. You know who was famously politically correct about war? General dude named George Washington. Forbade mistreatment of prisoners. Learn some history, Ben.

You know, I thought Christians were supposed to have compassion for their fellow man, give them the cloak off their back and walk the extra mile with them and all that sort of thing. But these days I guess all it means is bending over backwards to help billionaires make more money and kill people you don’t like in the quickest, most violent way possible.

As a Christian myself, it makes me incredibly sad to hear this kind of violent, war-mongering rhetoric from people who I’m supposed to agree with.

“There is no such thing as a politically correct war. We need to grow up, we need to mature. If you’re gonna have rules for war, you should just have a rule that says no war. Other than that, we have to win.”

YOU TELL 'EM, UNCLE BEN!

Look how well that worked for the Japanese at Pearl Harbor!

So this guy has no problem with gunning down civilians, with raping little girls, with shooting old men walking alongside the road and then leaving a shovel with the body claiming the guy was planting an IED, or with any of the other sheiss that the US army and contractors did in Iraq that they got prosecuted for. Got it.

One wonders how many of his patients ever survived given the total lack of humanity in this zombie.

Uh, that was the Germans, but your point stands.

Speaking of surgeons, there seems to be a “with these hands I heal” mentality, almost on par with God, among them. They aren’t particularly good at being people.

I’m curious as to just how far he’d allow our troops to go. Is rape okay? What about child rape? If our soldiers were in a situation where they needed to extract information from prisoner, is it okay to rape his kids in front of him? What about torture, Ben? Can we slowly chop off his wife’s body parts in order to get him to talk?
