Must be a tight knit community.

U of O SAE chapter’s last shred of decency goes “boom”.

I’m still rather ticked off at the fact that these schools don’t seem to mind kicking racists out, but won’t do anything about rape and sexual assault…

They don’t need a lawyer, they need a public relations agent. And a fucking conscience.

What grounds would there be for this? I believe they occupy University property and are there at the University’s largess. I don’t believe the University needs a reason to shut them down, but I don’t really know the law.

Shows you where their heart lies.

But McVeigh got the death penalty after this guy defended him. Enough said.

Is that a pair of Infinity SM-120s they’re carrying? Those speakers got lousy reviews. What’s the matter with these kids?

The latest bad judgment call, they are now wasting money. And I’d like to know how much this will cost the chapter board and how do they have that much money to throw at this windmill?

Some conservative group will probably provide financial support.

Because I guess they are hoping to get the same great deal McVeigh got.

They should be suing the SAE’s national organization that closed them down.
Their ‘head office’ decertified the lot of them before any university action.

You’ve just been added to the suit as a defendant.

Any time you’re about to do something that would put you in the same sentence as Timothy McVeigh, you should probably think twice about it.

Oh, make no mistake, it will be funded by several multi-millionaire alums. Each and everyone of whom has fond memories of chanting this chant.

Yeah, if I was in trouble and needed a lawyer I’d rush out and hire the guy who got his client the Gas Chamber.

That’s the OKLAHOMA way!

For the unpardonable crime of having been recorded chanting a totally unauthorized chant with no history at that chapter or nationally, despite the fact that it seems to have spontaneously been separately created at multiple SAE chapters across the nation and across the years. The penalty for breaching the Frat OmertĂ  is dissolution of your chapter.

Bunch of drunk Okies can’t help but express their cherished family traditions. Expulsion is zero, nothing compared to the suffering they inflicted on others in the past and undoubtedly will continue until the day they die. For them hate will trump love forever.

I was in a fraternity. That bus they were on was basically a party bus taking them and either a sorority or their dates to an event. These types of things happen routinely, very often it is an annual event or an every-semester event. They are either “date parties” or formals. This appeared to be a date party. The problem for the fraternity is this… these are official fraternity events, set up by and paid for by the fraternity. It is likely nearly every member of the fraternity was on that bus, or perhaps there were 2 or 3 buses. Still, this chant, that everyone appeared to be engaging it, was clearly a typical thing. Nobody looked shocked. Even the girl that appears briefly is just sitting there. All of which makes it look like a normal thing happening at an official fraternity event.

My fraternity was pretty diverse and there was no racism that I recall. There was certainly a degree of misogyny and idiotic young-college-guy, alcohol-fueled dumbness. But we went way out of our way to always be civil, nice and chivalrous when we were out on official events, especially with women/sororities. Guys would get punished for being rude to a waiter at dinner, things like that. We cared about our image, even if that image was just that. That this would happen on an official event, with everyone participating, and women around gives me all the reason I personally need to label the entire group as racist.

Anyone saying these kids are being unfairly painted as racist just for saying this chant doesn’t understand what being racist actually is, and are probably racist themselves to not be utterly offended but to go and defend these punks.

Why do I suspect national SAE is not enthused. They, more than anyone, would probably like this to just go away.
