As s teen I knew a guy like Don Lemon, a guy who is impossible to like, ask all the wrong questions, and demanding answers and he had none himself, just rubbed people the wrong way. I read a Sports Illustrated article in the 70’s about the Golden state warrior’s forward Rick Barry after Barry retired and started announcing, Barry had the same problem as Lemon no one liked the guy, he knew it all and some, the writer said basket ball fans hated Barry so much that they would wait at the exit door at arena’s where Barry was working to try catching him leaving to cuss at him and assault him, the writer said when Barry made it inside the car taking him away fans would be beating on the windows trying to punch him in the face, Lemon is the new Rick Barry without the talent.
She was prepared. She was prepared to call in resources if, when, and as needed. When they were needed, she called them in. Maybe it’s a fine line, but not that fine. Do you wait for the thugs to show themselves and create conflict, or do you let the police preemptively escalate the situation and very probably create worse conflict themselves. Baltimore has a long, ugly history of police misconduct. Lemon opened the interview by basically saying that he had discussed this situation with some police, and he and the police agreed the mayor screwed things up. You know, the police whose conduct precipitated all this. And a newsreader who will be held responsible for absolutely nothing. They agreed. Lemon’s an idiot, and an obnoxious ass. Always has been.
