Discussion: Ayotte: GOP Rep. Guinta Should Resign Following FEC Violation

Discussion for article #236474

Is that Kelly Ayotte? She looks different when she’s not surrounded by McCain and Graham.

Ayotte is up for reelection next year. Is this why she needs to separate herself from blatantly corrupt Republican politicians?

Rep. Guinta is also notable as having been the owner/operator of the “Inn of the Weary Traveller” chatroom on the now-defunct WebChat Broadcasting System network, one of the internet’s first role-playing chats.

Considering she’ll be running in a state that’s gone blue the last few Presidential elections, I’d say that’s extremely plausible.

Not that this is gonna help her…

With all the millions sloshing around in various campaign finance rackets, I’m amazed that this is the one issue Ayotte has time to criticize. I hope she’ll also be aiming her concern for campaign finance towards all those super PACs operating in New Hampshire these days.

There is that. There is also the fact that while she was AG here in NH she was pretty good and considered by most a very straight arrow. So I find here reaction to Guinta’s, who is a bit of sleaze from get go, FEC violation unsurprising.

He also claims that the money was set aside and otherwise generated prior to 2005 by himself and his wife.

Apparently he has been funneling money into his parent’s accounts since the moment of his birth. In fact, the moment of his conception, if not earlier.

Election fraud begins at the moment of the twinkle in your father’s eye, if you’re a Republican.

Yes. I think his explanations have been worse than the rules violation.

An alert IRS revenue agent would take a look to see if he has been telling the IRS one thing and the FEC another about who owns the assets. There are many nefarious reasons for tucking away assets in somebody else’s name, a few mostly harmless reasons, and almost no good reasons.
