Kavanaugh made a very bad error in his “strategy” to please Trump. I’m betting he deeply regrets it now. Maybe he couldn’t control himself, but his behavior was not only un-judge-like, he’s now a laughingstock.

As far as I can tell it’s mostly that even though they are polluting their already desperately polluted brand:

  • they’re getting the policy stuff - tax cuts, ending regulation, etc. - over which they get wet dreams; and
  • they’re scared witless about being primaried and turned out of office. Remember that Flake said that if he were running again he never would have forced the FBI investigation (file under Profile in Courage).

It’s about time. Even before his meltdown last week, there was ample evidence to question his truthfulness. And now, there’s certainly no lack of it to question his fitness. As credible as Dr. Ford was on the stand, keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to believe her to still disbelieve him.

Seriously. I spent the morning listening to Dr. Ford on the radio while driving, and was very deeply affected by her courage and composure in the face of what I thought was inappropriate questioning, as if she was at a trial. I got back home in time to see Kavanaugh seat himself and start his presentation, and my jaw just hit the floor. I have a background including teaching and performing arts, and I was simply stunned by his terrible choice of tone and his dreadful acting. You have to really know what you’re doing to talk past one audience without riling them up in order to get to another. Whatever else Trump is, he’s a good con man, and can talk past us to reach his deplorables rather deftly. Kavanaugh is a rank amateur at this, and he failed miserably.

If it had been me in his place, I would have gone for dignity and restraint; that would have probably gone over much better. Now, as you say, he is on video record as being completely unqualified to be left alone with kids for 5 minutes let alone being considered for the Supreme Court.

I was thinking of several key members of the Administration and Congressional Republicans chained to rocks, with vultures assigned to eat their livers each morning.

well, at least prometheus brought something useful to mankind - what has this crop of politicians done for the benefit of the peasants?

Senator Kennedy: ““He’s on trial for his life, so is his spouse, so are his parents, so are his kids…”

Uh, no.

You’re right. He isn’t on trial for his life. These people are.

And we can count on Kavanot to vote to hang 'em high, even if there’s new evidence that they might deserve a new trial when facts come to light.

If he doesn’t get a seat on the supreme court, then what was all the grooming for? Why did he go for the political operative and federal judge route instead of making millions of dollars a year as a partner at some connected law firm? Indeed, unless he’s confirmed, his entire life will have been for nothing.

This is how entitled rich white people think.
