Some state legislatures have proposed laws making the destruction of fertilized embryos a crime, murder or manslaughter specifically. So, would this result in this clinic being charged with 4000 counts of negligent homicide?
NEW YORK – A fertility clinic outside Cleveland admitted Tuesday the failure of its freezer system was far worse than first thought, and human error may be partly to blame.
Nearly 1,000 patients have now learned that 4,000 embryos were destroyed on March 3. In a new letter to patients, University Hospitals apologized again, saying “the remote alarm system on the tank, designated to alert a UH employee to changes like temperature swings, was off.”
I quit subscribing to the Atlantic during the Iraq invasion because the editor at that time, Michael Kelly, was a cheerleader for the war. Ironically, he was killed in Iraq on a visit to see the splendidness of it all for himself.
During that same period, Kelly had hired disgraced Andrew Sullivan (see New Republic controversy), another Iraq cheerleader, and Christopher Hitchens, a regular contributor, had gone off the rails post-9/11. Seems the magazine is headed for another tough patch.
To be fair something had to be done about the scourge of Iraqi and Afghan wedding parties and street fairs. I mean really, who the hell picked this music?
So, when I punch out my Tumpist neighbor and cause him great bodily pain and injury, I can now tell him, “Don’t worry, that feeling in your face is simply a social consruct.”
Yes, and how conveniently one-sided their forgetting that you tweeted your own vomitus to express your regret of your ill-advised gustatory excursions.
“Look, we’ll eat your mum, and if you still feel a bit guilty about it afterwards, we’ll dig a grave and you can frow up into it!”
Well, I now know what to write on their request for a subscription.
Indeed. I mean they just hired someone who thinks that any of my family members, friends, or neighbors who may have undergone such a procedure “should be hanged.” That is not a voice I would want to invite into my home in any way, shape, or form. And they should be told that.
Should there be reasoned conservative voices and writers in major news and magazines? yes. but why hire people who you have to spend time debating the intelligence of black people or the inferiority of women? It’s just a waste of time - like hiring flat earthers to debate a scientific question - jeesh Atlantic - I remember my parents subscribed when I was a kid - what a waste of intellectual time.
just because a person burned one cross one time, does not mean he doesn’t belong on a public platform so his well-informed views can be normalized as common sense debate.
also, if you do it in Kansas, you can sue him for not carrying a gun and stopping you. Plus, with the right lawyer, probably get him to pay for the physical therapy for your hand and wrist.
I respect genuine conservatives, but we haven’t been talking with any of those since about 1980. The frame needs to change, so let’s start by calling them what they are. R stands for Radical Reactionary and we should never call that party or anyone who aligns themselves with it anything else.
I think pomo stuff is more like the apartment blocks put up by The Amazing Mystico and Janet—everyone has to believe or it doesn’t work. Maybe you could send him a used copy of “The Secret” anonymously. It might not ruin his life. But then again, it might. Trumpists are credulous by definition, amirite?
