@sickneffintired All that you say is true, my shaggy friend, but the sonovabitch is also, most unfortunately, president*. And while he postures and mugs and carries on for the crowd, the Repug’s leadership is shoveling shit through the fan as fast as they can.
I agree, though a lot of people called me out for bringing it up on here. But I think its foolish to entertain the notion that Trump hasn’t/isn’t entertaining such options in the future if its needed.
Quite frankly, I wouldn’t put a scenario where Trump barricades himself in Mar-e-Largo and declares his impeachment null and void and starts a Civil War as too outlandish, either. Or at least, one that Trump would definitely contemplate.
That picture of Kathy Griffin holding the severed head of Trump gets more reasonable and less controversial by the minute, doesn’t it?
I’ll bet Rudy gave him that idea.
It would be a very limited civil war. And far more brief and posh then the last one.
All of his instincts are self-serving and corrupt.

The Overton Window is now a double garage door.
Help, I’m a rock!
Both you and @demyankee have excellent points. I would only add one comment: Donnie says these things because he knows he will get a HUGE roar of approval, which is what his small, pathetic ego demands. He craves approval like an alcoholic craves his next drink. He may rail against the “elite media,” but both the NYT and WaPo are the first papers he calls when he wants to make a splash (insert your own PP tape joke here). His empire is crumbling quickly, and he realizes career prosecutors can’t be bought off or bullied (never mind that Michael Avenatti is about to declare checkmate against his band of legal Connect Four players). This rally is all he has.
Nevertheless, this should strengthen our resolve to take back Congress. And, always take courage in the fact that there are WAY more of us than there are them.
Here’s an idea. Let’s decorate a prison cell to look like the Oval Office, so when Don the Con is sent to the slammer he can can continue to pretend to be president. Deal?
But, isn’t it the case that there are far more cunning and determined people either riding his coattails or blowing steam up his ass? I go back and forth in thinking that folks like that are taking full advantage of Trump’s charisma with voters, deep narcissism, and superficial policy apprehension.
Like that shitgrinning wraith Stephen Miller?
This is how Trump changes things. It all starts as a non-joke joke, planted in his brain by one of his handlers, and then becomes part of a conversation that his base begins taking seriously and Fox News proposes that it is not only possible, but entirely appropriate.
Men in uniforms and suits and ties say so. Blonde women in short skirts say so.
People across America who own more guns than books begin insisting on it at Thanksgiving dinner.
Yeah, I think all of that is possible - certainly that he’d be contemplating that. But I think ultimately that will be too crazy for all but the most hardcore house R’s. Certainly for Senate R’s. It could happen, but that will really stretch the limits of what the ‘moderate’ GOP will tolerate. Civil war would not likely be an option. Although should anything like that messaging come from Trump, I think there are enough crazy folks out there that would heed a rally call to violence. That would be bad enough (!), but the vast majority of the nation is going to want stability. Don’t get me wrong. This scenario would be crazy and scary enough, but cooler heads will have to take over sooner or later…
Only if she uses a dull knife.
The only thing that matters is getting through our various primaries with the right candidates. That’s the thing that we need to focus on. Mueller and SDNY are taking care of business. This past week, the results show that we have a shot at House pickups in 3 states (NC, WV, OH), and we got the right candidate out of OH to run for Governor.
The OH Dem ballot, with Brown and Cordray, is a nice opportunity for the party’s midwestern brand. Their messages and bona fides as supporter of working Americans give us an amplified message at the top of the ticket. The latest PPP poll fresh out of the primary has Cordray with over 40% of the white vote (which means he wins…period.). We’re finding that Conor Lamb, Bob Casey rust belt Dem sweet spot.
Everybody thinks he deserves it! (All the voices in his head, anyhow.) I’m hoping not for an extension, but a shortening of his Presidential term.
I believe that top pic was where Trump was illustrating to the adoring crowd how he gives a handie to Pooty Poot.
Is this shit gibbon-speak? Is he worried that he might get pushed out by, say, the end of the summer? The Cohen bribery scams aren’t looking too good for him.
This is certainly true, but because there is no filter between the Dotard’s brain, such as it is, and his mouth, I am pretty sure that he actually entertains fantasies of being President-for-Life.
Is it just me or are his hands becoming tinier?
