I am familiar with MJ Hegar, a former female military pilot who ran unsuccessfully against an incumbent GOPer in Texas. She’s going to run for Senate as a Dem, hoping to unseat Cornyn. Might that be the person you’re recalling?

I understand your point, but the electorate does not. As a political attack it is simple and hews to the facts rather than the substance. This is the biggest danger to Beshear’s campaign.
Alternatively, by hiding tax returns Edelen unambiguously validates the unethical behavior of Trump and Bevin. Edelen is banking (correctly) that the voter won’t care for the most part. But as campaign watchers we should expect the damaging truth he is concealing to come out at the least opportune time for our interests. Call it the ‘John Edwards Rule’.

I live in the 6th district and proudly voted for Amy in 2018. But if she couldn’t defeat Barr here I can’t see how she would win a Senate race against McConnell only two years later. To be clear, I’m not implying that there’s anything wrong with her as a candidate. It’s this state. And McConnell is… well, McConnell. He’s a shark.

I’ve read and heard this elsewhere and I don’t get it. All the guy has done is start a dumb sports show. Admittedly I’m a little biased because I loathe UK sports and how literally obsessed people are here with all of it.
I know he’s an attorney but still. I just really can’t stand him. But if Jones does run against McConnell they’re going to comb through everything he’s ever said on that show of his. Hope he’s ready for that.

Governor Bevin is unpopular mostly because he is trying to take away healthcare from Republicans.
That is Kentucky exposes a dirty little secret, that the main beneficiaries of Obamacare are White people with a high school diploma or less living disproportionally in the South or as the media calls these Obamacare beneficiaries, “the base of the GOP”. This is important and potentially devastating for Republicans because the big claim by White working and middle class voters was the Obama and the Democrats ignored them when in fact Obama and the Democrats main achievement was providing healthcare for these very voters.
Kentucky’s previous Governor, a Democrat, was all over Obamacare and used it to turn Kentucky from one of the worst states for healthcare and health insurance into one of the best. Bevin has done everything possible to reverse his predecessors success with Obamacare and in so doing is trying to take away healthcare from tens if not hundreds of thousands of people, their children and their parents most of whom vote Republican.
So well Kentuckyians have hated all Democrats since LBJ and civil rights and especially hated Obama, they love themselves and their children. So well they love Trump for trying to erase Obama, they hate Bevin for trying to take away their healthcare that Obama gave them. Therefore Trump, as the article says needs to “rescue Bevin to save his Trump’s own skin” least the secrete that the main beneficiaries of Democratic policies like healthcare and education, are really the base of the GOP.

I have loathed Matt Bevin ever since his family factory burned down and he went whining to the evil government for a handout because, “(Bevin) said he had no fire insurance on the old building, which he had just finished renovating before the blaze, but has received some insurance proceeds against a work stoppage, as well as a state matching grant.” He was quoted at the time about insurance something like he didn’t have it because it was “too expensive.” Another government handout for the job creators. Blecchhh.

Slightly OT. Last night I went to a local Democratic Party meeting. The mayor of Long Beach, Robert Garcia, was the speaker. He told us that under Obama mayors were invited to the WH often and worked well together, exchanging information and working on civic issues. Once Agent Orange was President, all cooperation ended, and the intergovernmental office was dissolved Cities are entirely out of the loop. Orange County now has 20 Democratic clubs.

There were tee shirst and bumper stickers at the time, available on the Internet, with a picture of George Allen on a horse, wearing a cowboy hat (natch, llike Zinke and Roy Moore) and the caption, “Adios, Macaca.” I do so regret not ordering one or both.

The sad irony being that Bevin literally campaigned on this:

hailed as a national model, successfully launched in 2013 even as the
federal government exchange foundered.

“I am going to get rid of kynect,” he said in an interview with The
Courier-Journal prior to the election. “We don’t need a state exchange.”
And he did it.
