Discussion: As Florida Recount Wraps Up, Nelson Appears To Have Lost Senate Race

Super Thief Rick Scott is going to be in the Senate, because Nelson ran an incompetent campaign that included failing to take a good, hard look at the ballot in Broward County.

I really hate this state, you know?

You have to love the Scott campaign fun. They could have released something that acknowledged the difficult campaign and urged Floridians to move forward together. Instead they chose to be jerks.

“With the hand recount concluding in most counties across the state showing no significant change in the margin, it’s time for Bill Nelson to face reality and concede,” Scott spokesman Chris Hartline said in a separate statement.

Geez, give the guy a little room, would you? Allow him the dignity of conceding on his own. It’s called being gracious, something Republicans clearly know nothing about.

Voter error caused by poor ballot design may instead by partly to blame for the undervote, as some elections experts speculated as returns trickled in last week. The Senate contest was relegated to the lower-left corner of the ballot, making it easier to overlook.

When will we ever learn?

No democracy, no justice.

His team can share the blame with Dr. Snipes.

Florida can share the blame that it was close enough to have mattered.

Little Marco Rubio is now Florida’s Senior Senator and can demand that as Florida’s Junior Senator, Ricky “Bat-Boy” Scott serve as his human donkey while they are in the US Senate Chambers.

Good luck people of Florida. Re-electing Scott for two goddamn terms as Governor has turned your State into a sh*thole. Between him and DeSantis, the two of these degenerates will ensure that your State is reduced to absolute ashes. Always keeping in mind that when the State turns into something out of a scene from a “Mad Max” movie, they’ll just pick up stakes and leave. Anyone who can leave, should. Anyone who can’t is pretty much screwed.

I recall that something similar involving ballot design hurt Gore in 2000. When will ever learn indeed?

There are national standards for ballots that say to NEVER put a race in the same column as instructions. But Florida is too dumb to follow those. Just saw the state off and let it float away. Rising sea levels will drown it soon anyway…

If this is true, I’m going to be seriously pissed at Marc Elias for getting our hopes up.

The unfortunate and likely truth is that Florida will have to deal with DeSantis as Governor for at least 4 years and everyone has to deal with Voldemort as Senator for at least 6 years. The good news is that Amendment 4 passed and a huge chunk of the former felons are Democrats so there’s a chance Florida can become a blue state by 2020 if Dems create a huge push to register all of the former felons on our side and make them active voters.

Regardless of this election, we cannot trust Mail in ballots or Absentee ballots to be properly counted in Southern states anymore. We need to focus solely on early voting to prevent this situation from happening again. We also need to pass a law that mandates a specific amount of voting booths based on the amount of voters registered at a precinct to stop these ridiculous long lines. I can’t trust absentee ballots until Florida gets rid of signature verification and just allows an absentee to count if another witness signed it to confirm that person was the one that voted. Also, Florida Dems need to raise hell if standards like that aren’t in place for the next election.

Sounds like to me someone needs to be fired over this. Folks in Florida keep making the same mistake of assuming that the voters are smart. How many times do they have to show that they aren’t for the dems to get the message?

How many votes were lost to suppression tactics, removal from voter rolls, felon disenfranchisement (at least that is abandoned going forward). None of this was at issue on these recounts.

And my fiancee wonders why I want to move from here to Colorado so badly… Then again I have such a low expectations for Florida that I was ecstatic a Democrat (barely) won the Ag Commissioner race.

Those statements are breathtaking in their calculated assholery. Talk about being a sore winner.
