This is why I sometimes comment that one of the best ways to see which way the cultural winds are blowing is to watch ads. Advertisers follow the money of course. Ads these days are overwhelmingly pushing racial and gender diversity, immigrants and their contributions to the country and that tells me that they know where the majority with the majority of the money is - and that would be us.
They are responding more readily these days to complaints about their support of hatefulness. And it drives the ratwing crazy that we are using the invisible hand of the market to fuck with them.

I certainly boycott them as a daily thing but the leverage with advertisers is they want to reach FOX viewers as a subset of their market, but they don’t want negative publicity in so doing that would hurt them with the non-wingnut segments. That’s a leverage we decent folk can bring to bear. But I don’t know how decent folk boycotting FOX itself would work, if we don’t watch it to begin with. Am I missing something?

I’m in what is a probably small cohort of people here and elsewhere who don’t watch Fox News, never have, the only time I see or hear of it is when some TV talkers show a clip or when TPM recycles the garbage.

I’ve never watched Fox News either and I don’t think hardly anyone who isn’t a crazy old white reactionary does watch Fox, though I don’t know really. I don’t know anyone who watches. I used to know a few, and they were crazy old white reactionaries.

It’s been under boycott in the real world for a long time. Everything I read about FOX mentions over and over their ratings and number one position in cable news. But that’s a bit like being rated number 1 in tiddly winks. very few people follow it. That vast majority of Americans do not watch FOX or cable news. Less than 4 % of Americans watch FOX regularly. American’s get their news from local sources for the most part. It works like this. Lets say 10 people open a restaurant in PoDunk. One opens a Tex-Mex but the others open more elegant joints like French or American Continental. The Tex Mex gets aficionados of that food and folks that will only eat that food. The other 9 split up the rest of the dining public’s business. So 15 % of PoDunk eats Tex-Mex but 85 % eat French, Italian, Sushi, Steak and Chop, Catalonia style Tapas, Middle Eastern, Northern African, Cantonese and Low Country. None of those 9 can claim 15 % regularly as they split up the pie with the 85 % of diners that have more adventurous palettes. Tex-Mex rules in the ratings! But that vast majority don’t eat it.
Same goes for a lot of stuff. The NRA has about 2 % ( being generous ) of the American people as members. If you deduct free riding “associate” members and foreign members much less. Yet we speak of them as a vast majority.

In my mom’s last couple of years, it was on at her house (loudly), so there’s that. It did give me the opportunity to explain with proof that some of those contributers were just nuts, for instance Orly Taitz. Last time I was in the ER in north San Diego County, Fox was on the waiting room TV. Drove me nuts. Depending on where you live and who you’re related to, Fox can be hard to avoid altogether.

It shows no signs of ebbing either. Plus, I see no outpouring of support from her sheeple, begging the station to return this skanky, maggot-driven, puerile princess of peroxide pestilence to the air.
Like a now inedible 10minute pizza, this has been cooking on high for days. She is more than crisp, she’s been baked down to her five core elements - fire, acid, e-coli, bilge water from a frat’s septic tank, and vomit.

My father has Alzheimer’s and he now enjoys FUX News immensely. He used to be very smart and discerning.
