Discussion: Are Republicans Ready To Charge Ahead On Obamacare Repeal?

“I was told [the leaked draft] was dated the 10th and is somewhat dated,” Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who has introduced his own replacement plan, told TPM.

Because two and a half weeks is forever when you’ve had SEVEN FRICKIN YEARS! to find a replacement.

Flail some more, that’ll help.

If the replacement isn’t better than Obamacare in every way, cheaper, covers everyone, etc., I’m going to start to believe that maybe Trump wasn’t being completely honest.

Does anyone believe the GOP wants to replace the ACA with anything other than nothing?

I think we’d have already gone back to life under unregulated health care insurers if the GOP could figure out a way to sell it.

Eventually, they’ll clench their teeth and do exactly that, and hope we forget before the midterms.

Does it matter? We’re headed for a war. Trump wants a war. His war. Everything else is a distraction.

We have to stop it.

Why don’t they just “coalesce” around Trump’s terrific, better, cheaper plan that will insure everybody? If they need to wait a few days or a couple of weeks for him to apply the final gold-plated touches, that’s OK.

Like deer in the headlights!

Nobody believes it but a number of Republican politicians are beginning to understand that they will own repeal. If they don’t tie failure to replace around the necks of Democrats they are in for a short electoral future. People don’t forget when a policy impacts them directly.

Doooooo itttttt! Come on you chick shits destroy the ACA and when all of your poor white constituents realize they’re SOL we’ll make you own it…

Yep Rep. Meadows and the rest of the Freedom Caucus may soon learn that people value their lives more than the Freedumb Caucus’ principle.
Oh and when hospitals start closing then I wouldn’t want to be a Republican in any state.

The feral trumpers in the House may think this is gold but I’m quite sure that there are some Senators that won’t go along for the ride if it means their jobs are on the line. At least two of them are on record as saying that they want the Dems on board with this debacle.

This debacle was all just too predictable. The only thing left is the part where the Republican “plan” is structurally identical to Obamacare with some adjustments and a huge PR campaign to rename it, or a full-on insurance-industry ending catastrophe that kills or bankrupts their own constituents.

Anyone interested in this topic and the Repub efforts to destroy health care MUST watch John Oliver’s dissection of their dilemma from this past Sunday. Absolutely brilliant. If you can access it from HBO, don’t miss it.

UPDATE: Wait! I found it. You’re welcome:

They are salivating at the thought of cutting that tax expense to themselves at their high levels of income, but they are scared shitless of the havoc it will cause when so many folks lose their coverage, a large portion, Trump and Republicans voters.

So no they are not ready.

I think they are just going to keep kicking the can down the road till something bigger comes up and they can say they have to address that first.

Ah, but they are deluded enough to turn on the GOP 24/7 Bullshit Machine to spread “freedom” and “empowerment” to the brainwashed masses.

Is it going to work? Why just look at Kentucky! The voters went to the polls and elected Bevin who said he would kill Obamacare. He kills Kynect and the next November Trump wins by a bigger margin that Bevin did. Yes all you have to do is go to the ignorant base of the GOP and say “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” and they will follow Republicans down the Ayn Rand Selfishness Highway!

Ah, but them Republican Pulpit Pimp Preachers are going to milk the marks for every last penny as they have healing services for those who lose their health care!

Sadder still is that many in Kentucky thought Kynect, which they loved, was something different than Obamacare which they hated. That explains why they had no problem joining in the kill Obamacare chorus. Same problem existed with the ACA which many folks didn’t know was also Obamacare.

My guess is the GOP votes to repeal. 45 tosses a “little” nuke at Somalia or Yemen. You know, a warning shot, no biggy, a million people die. Melania leads us in prayer.

This is premeditated murder.

I don’t care about the semantics- people are going to suffer and die as a direct result of this action; and everyone knows it.

Ryan has been itching to for too long, but he’s having to deal with his fellow congressmen slapping his hands away from the repeal because unlike him a lot of them rely on lower income districts. This is what happens when true believers are allowed leadership positions.
