Probably…they had the Klan there too, for some reason.

Posner! Wow.

Posner has turned out to be a pretty good judge, from what I’ve read. Any lawyers out there?

Pence is just another bed wetting “pro-family”, “pro-life” Republican legislator, until the families and lives being discussed happen to be non-white or non-Chritian.

Jebus told him "those people " are not worthy of compassion .
At least that’s what it says in the Right wing translation of the Bible .
They refused Jebus and he was some kind of a terrorist…

“But that’s equivalent of his saying (not that he does say) that he wants to forbid black people to settle in Indiana not because they’re black but because he’s afraid of them, and since race is therefore not his motive he isn’t discriminating,” Posner wrote.

Not that he doesn’t say it, either.

Poor toilet training.

“but is based solely on the threat he thinks they pose to the safety of residents of Indiana”

I love how the courts have to non-judgmentally engage in the silly fiction that these fuckers actually believe what they’re claiming to believe and aren’t just saying whatever bullshit they think their idiot constituents want to hear and will get them elected.

Pence doesn’t believe that there’s a real threat…except maybe to the extent that he worries about being “that guy who let them in and now they did something,” in which case he probably considers any risk above 0% to be too much…and to that he extent he considers it a risk to his re-election, not to people. More to the point, Pence simply knows his constituents are (a) gullible, fearful dupes he can scare shitless with this nonsense and (b) people who don’t want more brown people, particularly non-Christians ones, in the state/neighborhood anyway.

Edit: To be fair…this follow up sentence is about as close to saying it’s a sham statement of belief as I think we could hope for…

“But that’s equivalent of his saying (not that he does say) that he wants to forbid black people to settle in Indiana not because they’re black but because he’s afraid of them, and since race is therefore not his motive he isn’t discriminating,”

And for those who asked, yeah, Posner is about as highly respected as a judge can get without sitting on the SCOTUS.

If he wasn’t so busy saving approximately zero lives by being a bigot, he could save hundreds of lives by fighting to reduce drug-overdose deaths.

so, Pence is going to hit Kaine on pro bono work and doing his job/due process? Kaine can NOW hit Pence on being a bigot? okay, I like those odds.

Why are Republican voters such pathetic fucking COWARDS?
We are a vast, powerful, obscenely wealthy country of 335 million diverse citizens of every ethnicity and religion and they are terrified of a few, heavily vetted (usually takes over 5 years) men, women and children refugees?
The ones I talk to seem afraid that they will be forced to put down the beer, stop eating pizza, and turn off the NFL game and start eating falafel and watching soccer the moment some 3 year-old Syrian kid moves into town.
Cowardly AND Stupid.

Posner is a real conservative, very smart, and he is totally fed up with the RWNJs.

They not only “had the Klan” they had the highest number of Klan members in the entire country in 1924 at the height of the Klan’s influence.
Don’t take my word for it.
Check out the Indiana State Library site on it; http://www.in.gov/library/2848.htm
