Discussion for article #228384
Yet another decision that makes me ashamed to be a lawyer. One more time, judges forget the real world in the name of chopping logic and picking apart phrases.
Anatole France was so perceptive: “The law in its majestic equality, forbids the rich and the poor to sleep under bridges.”
Could Mr. Abbot show us the data supporting the claim that current facilities impair “the health and safety of Texas women”? Or is this bullshit? Ya think?
Republicans in Texas, with supermajorities in the Lege and an eager new governor in Greg Abbott, will be the first state in the nation to ban abortion, and they will dare anyone to turn them back. They have all the votes they need: five, on the US Supreme Court. And then they will go after the murderers, those dastardly criminal women who would break the law and kill their babies anyway.
This is not an exaggeration.
Would a Women’s Reproductive Clinic have turned away an Ebola victim?
For years I’ve wondered why these idiots are such crotch doggies. They’re constantly sniffing around our private parts and then wagging their fingers at us, “Shame…shame…”
Jesus wept.
I gonna put a baby up in you and you caint do nuthin bout it.
Women who kill babies should go to prison. But this article is about abortion and not about killing babies.
I hope all of you women are paying attention to this because this is a preview of what life will be like for you if you vote Republican in the upcoming election in November!
What is weird about these affiliated with hospital laws is that many clinics do procedures that are very similar to this and are not affiliated with hospitals.
That’s only weird if you take the Republicans claims that this is about concern for women’s safety at face value.
The government needs to stay out of people’s healthcare, except when it doesn’t. The GOP motto.
Time to rename abortion to something like, preventative protection procedure or whatever to cause the Repubs to have to start all over again. Then, when they outlaw the next thing, change the name again. Stupid I know, but that is the game that the Republicans are playing. We usually beat them at their own game and make them look like fools whilst doing it.
Or, we could outvote them and never have to deal with their idiocy in the first place, Hellooooooooooo!
A bit of snark, but doesn’t this work against the Republican’s in the long run? South and West Texas are mostly non-white, so de facto forcing these mothers to have more babies just speeds up their demographic demise doesn’t it??
Without snark, this is pure shite from those “hated activist judges”. I sincerely hope Ms. Davis is on the air this week hammering Abbott on his defense of this law…
bullshit is the polite way of putting it…ya wanna make it unpolite call it religious conservative dogma three very dirty words
Hispanics, particularly Mexicans, are very Catholic.
So don’t get your hopes up that they would necessarily vote to overturn Teabag Sharia’s anti-abortion laws.
Just sitting here trying to figure how to get Ebola to infect RWNJ’s only.
If somone had written a law forbidding abortion doctors from affiliating with a hospital or maintaing safe operating rooms the outcry would have been the same.
