Discussion: AP-NORC/MTV Poll: Young People Want Younger Leaders

Um…this is a surprise??

So do I and I’m in my 60s. There is way too much money centered in the old white male power structure. It’s stopping any upper mobility for anyone. We are being trapped in a box that can only lead to fascism. Would it even be possible for the next internet to be created and tested with those in charge wanting to sink all our R&D funds into building a Wall?

It is to Trump. He even thinks Kim thought he was the cat’s pajamas.

Younger leaders, like, say, Bernie?

Have these numbers changed over time?

Anyway it strikes me as being a stand-in for anti-incumbent sentiment, and anti-incumbent in this GOP-dominated landscape means anti-GOP. Almost by definition new challengers will be younger than those who have been elected and re-elected or moved up to higher offices through the party.

The real key is whether or not this not-unexpected preference will translate to actual engagement and actual votes.
Although most say they’d be at least moderately excited to vote for younger, nonwhite and female candidates, those characteristics don’t generate as much excitement as someone who shares their political views.
Like most people their main concearn is agreement on policy, the headline and generation vs generation tone of the article is just shit-stirring for clicks.
