Discussion: AP: Florida GOP Rep. DeSantis Resigns From Congress Amid Gubernatorial Bid

The northeast Florida Republican said in his letter that he will be spending time campaigning and it would be “inappropriate” to accept a salary while he is running for governor.

Translation: the big GOP donors told him that he had no chance of winning if he wasn’t campaigning full time, and they would cut him off sooner rather than later if he insisted on staying in his seat.

To the people of Florida: By this action, DeSantis proves himself to be an unreliable employee of the State. After all, he is contracted for service through January. What makes you think he would be more reliable as Governor?

Vote for Gillum !

November gives us such a tremendous opportunity to get rid of so many vile creatures screwing up our country – DeSantis, Scott, Nunes, Cruz, Rohrabacher, Walker, Jordan – with Ryan sitting this out. Imagine if we could wipe the slate clean to that extent with just one election. It could finish an entire republican philosophy of hate and assholery.

That was the single biggest Improvement he personally could have made to our national politics. He should learn from his own example at the state level.

So now the GOP is going to circle the wagons in Florida, anyone think that Ken Detzner, in proud tradition of past FL Sec’s of State, won’t try and hand this election to DeSantis?

As an added bonus, he will have even more free time to address Christian Fascist, White nationalist shindigs.

“As far as being associated with a very conservative group? He’s very conservative,”

For most of my life, I would not have imagined that the word ‘conservative’ would become a synonym for ‘nazi’?

When is the FOIA office of the State Department going to release Nancy Soderberg’s unredacted SF-86? I hope she is ready for that “mistake” while awaiting her campaign’s FOIA request for the same.

Maybe we need to construct a short list of Republicans who are not corrupt or haven’t perjured themselves or haven’t taken recent trips to enemy Russia.

Except for the universities and the capital complex, Tallahassee is just another southern city that is more like Ga than Fla and is completely surrounded by 100s of miles of crackers and rednecks.

Trust me, there is plenty of grift by the developers here, but it’s all old boy network and they don’t share their grift across ethnic lines.

ETA, they wouldn’t have invited Gillum to play.

“As far as being associated with a very conservative group? He’s very conservative,” DiMatteo said. “DeSantis is fine.”

I don’t think he realizes he just said that conservatives are fine with white supremacy/KKK/Nazis. I mean, we knew it, but here the guy is straight-up admitting it.
