Discussion: AP FACT CHECK: Do Trump's Mar-A-Lago Trips Really Cost $3 Million?

How much taxpayer money goes to Mar-a-Lago for these visits. What did we pay to Trump’s business for that piece of chocolate cake? Those dinners with visiting heads of state and their entourage must be a nice chunk of change for Mar-a-Lago.

Bullshit, AP. Let me summarize. The cost of Trump’s trips to MaL are based on the best available data. That information is a consequence of a GOP request to cost out an Obama golf trip so they could bash him with it. These data are a few years old and will likely be updated soon owing to a new request to the GAO by Dems who want to cost out Trump’s trips. That will take a while. In the meantime, Conservative shills are now whining that the cost figures that they used to bash Obama are being used against Trump and that’s not fair. They whined loudly enough for you, AP, to do a meaningless “fact check” to give them cover for their assertion that Trump is being treated unfairly because the 3.6 mil figure that THEY THEMSELVES asked the GAO to calculate does not apply to his Trumpiness.

“[I]s Trump guilty of the same thing? Fitton says he doesn’t think so…”

…at which point you stop listening to this dishonest twerp.

When this happened several years ago it was officially declared (with a drum roll) AP’s “fact check” is a piece of crap.

Priceless.

The government has lent him a 132-room historic mansion on 18 acres with beautiful gardens and many bedrooms and fireplaces, with numerous staff members including pastry chefs who can make chocolate cake. But he chooses to go to a rococo nightmare in Sea By The Lake with a filthy kitchen because he can suck the country dry just a little bit longer when the supplicants come to him there with membership checks in hand.

I’d definitely agree with you that any discussion of the orange begin with “mal.”

and directly into Trump’s pockets. Grift-a-Lotto!

So this “fact check” essentially says “the cost could be less, or it could be a lot more, and we’re goint to highlight the republican operatives who claim it’s less”. Nice going, AP.

Do the Secret Service guys have to pay $200K/year? Since Ivanka and the “Beneficiaries” have Official positions in the WH, do we get to pick-up their tab?

My biggest gripe about this situation is that outside riff-raff is allowed to pay admission to official functions with foreign dignitaries. Do you think that Trumps high rolling buddies would be allowed to get within a mile of Davos or a G7 meeting? That place should be closed to the public when his trumpness is in town.

I wonder if all the commotion is related to this?

Feckless ignorance with an unhealthy dose of partisanship…

“One way Trump is saving presidential travel money: He hasn’t yet journeyed overseas, though next month he plans to make a stop in Brussels.”

I have been waiting for the first overseas trip so that Preznit Colon Combover can apply this when his red carpet doesn’t show up in Brussels, wonder if he will require a marching band too, as a sign of respect, maybe young females throwing flower petals too, as a sign of deference to his massive hands

“I’ve got to tell you, if that were me, I would say, ‘You know what,
folks, I respect you a lot but close the doors, let’s get out of here,’”
he added. “It’s a sign of such disrespect.”

I can’t name a single place that this person could go where he wouldn’t be greeted with yuge protests. Well, perhaps he could go to Russia or another country with an authoritarian dictator who can keep protesters at bay or locked up but he might do well to stay away from any of America’s allies, especially Europe.

His sons however have been gallivanting around the world on taxpayer’s expense since he was elected. In particular they have been running up steep expenses associated with their SS details, forcing them to stay at expensive hotels (usually Trump branded ones).

So even the claim he is saving money by not travelling overseas is empty. A better way to look at is he has run up substantial overseas travel expenses…without setting foot outside of the country.

For that matter, no matter where President Obama went golfing, he sure as hell didn’t come back to the White House slightly richer every time as a result of forcing the American people to pay his private businesses.

When the GAO breaks this down, I think we all deserve to know exactly how much of the costs of these trips go into Trump-owned companies.

Not to mention the HELICOPTER LANDING PAD that was built by the US Government specifically for Marine One to land on that is now being used by TRUMP’S PERSONAL HELICOPTER so Marine One cannot land there now.
