State crimes that Dotard can’t pardon.

This doesn’t qualify as “fake news” but there does seem to be a large bit of it’s “news” because it’s the Kushner companies.

It sounds like this is common practice and the article would have more impact if the reporters had named more names OR shown that this is relatively unique to Kushner.

Let’s hope that this will start a much broader investigation and lead to major changes.

Kushner Cos. responded in a statement that it outsources the preparation of such documents to third parties that are reviewed by independent counsel, and “if mistakes or violations are identified, corrective action is taken immediately.”

Nearly all the permit applications were signed by a Kushner employee, including sometimes the chief operating officer.

The increasingly obvious fact that every business connected to Trump and his spawn is a scam will be the undoing of not only his occupancy of the White House, but also the ultimate bankruptcy of him and his kith and kin.

I really shouldn’t be shocked. I shouldn’t. But around here, fucking w/rent-controlled apartments is like fucking w/someone’s kids. This was ballsy.

Why do mice have such small balls?

Because very few mice know how to dance.

“Kushner would never deny any tenant their due-process rights,” the Kushner Cos. statement said.

Except for the hundreds they harassed and denied due process to.

“Kushner Cos. responded in a statement that it outsources the responsibility for their criminal activity to third parties that are reviewed by independent counsel, and ‘if mistakes or violations are identified, we deny any involvement immediately.’”

For the three Queens buildings in the borough’s Astoria neighborhood, the Kushner Cos. checked a box on construction permit applications in 2015 that indicated the buildings had zero rent-regulated tenants.

I reside in a coop in Western Queens bordering a historic district so I’m safe from these machinations. The development along the waterfront is driven by the demand for housing. However foreign investors buy in and stay for a few days per year. What is needed is a pier de tier tax that would discourage these types of investors.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the sort of crime that would land Jared in prison. His company might be fined as much as several million dollars, but I doubt his signature is on any of the falsified documents. Even if it were, it would still probably just amount to a big fine, not prison.

More like scorpions and snakes. . . . Not to disparage either scorpions or snakes.

I would disagree with that unless you specify what the housing demand is for. If you’re referring to affordable housing, that is not the case. All of these buildings advertise themselves as “luxury” housing.

Full disclosure: I live in Greenpoint, Bklyn. and I work in Sunnyside, Qns

The first towers were built in LIC back in 91-92 they were advertised at $30-40k per apartment with maintenance of $1400 which is quite steep. Over time it developed into a residential neighborhood.
When rent regulations were weakened in the late 90’s and the Mitchell Lama’s were sunsttting it led to a lot of affordable units deregulated. Now it seems like everything is advertised as luxury. I’m in a coop in Jackson Heights that was built in the 50’s for the working class by leveraging pension funds and we’ve been adding amenities like a gym and play space for kids, things that upscale buildings always had. I’ve resided here since 2000 it was inherited from family who purchased in the early 60’s.
One of the reasons why I bought a coop in another area in the 80’s just out of college was I would read the Village Voice 10 worst landlords and would say to myself I don’t want to end up in a place where the landlord was even the half worse. I had some saving to spare so I bought a place.

Only the best horrible people.

Decent people should shun this walking human waste. Just like the Trump family, the Kushners seem to thrive on making people suffer for their rapacious greed.

And here we learn that he is playing loose (because why else?) with ethics rules…

he retained stakes in many properties, including Westminster Management, the Kushner Cos. subsidiary that oversees its residential properties

General population would be too nice for this bastard.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe any of the cells at Guantanamo Bay are rent-regulated.

Absolutely. I basically knew NYC was in major trouble when it came to affordable housing when Stuy Town was purchased and repackaged as - yep, “luxury housing.” For some reason I never quite understood, DeBlasio chose to make charter schools his number one priority when he first took office. He basically lost that fight to Moskowitz; now he’s hip deep in the NYCHA mess with probably more to come.
