There are a couple of points floating around here. First, I think his statement should read “if one of my daughters is gay”. I believe his daughters are still young and they might not yet know who they are. Having to say it in the present tense changes the impact, I think.
Second, enough with this bs about “let the states decide”. If there’s anything the states should decide it’s whether someone born in Canada to a Cuban father should be allowed to run for President. Now there’s a debate Donald Trump can lead in his sleep.

That always kills me, too, when people forget about this pesky little reality: you cannot get LEGALLY married unless it is sanctioned by the government. You can, of course, get married in one of these RW Teabagger churches, but have fun in probate court if your spouse dies and you don’t have that little license to prove the validity and legality of your marriage. Of course, I’m sure Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Piyush Jindal, and the rest of the Travelling All-Star Christ-O-Rama Revue will throw you a bone to help you out.
