The Right knows it has nothing to offer anyone besides the most extreme elements of the Republican Party. They saw the Havoc and Misery wrought in Paris.
They are now invigourated.
They will now go to work on the Distracted and the Independents. Speechwriters and Talking Point craftmen and craftswomen are quite adroit these days.
She is probably right about the GOP nomination.
Trump and Rubio are the only viable candidates who haven’t made a fool of themselves with a premature outburst. Trump didn’t make any statement about who might be to blame or what should be done after the attack. He didn’t need to because he already established his position. Cruz and Carson were opportunists and Bush decided to use the opportunity to remind people his brother was right.
When Trump does come out with his statement on what to do, I expect he will be taking great pains to demonstrate his ability to respond presidentially. Personal anecdotes of 9/11 from a New Yorker. That kind of thing - gravitas.
Trump should be able to cream the remaining GOP field with that approach. The only one that hasn’t made a complete fool of himself is Rubio whose cherubic looks and complete lack of relevant experience mean that this simply isn’t his time.
Trump vs Hilary is a totally different question. There is no way that Trump is going to have the advantage over a rather hawkish former Secretary of State when the issue is foreign terrorism. But Trump probably isn’t going to think about the general election until after the primary is settled.

I’m not exactly an expert on French idioms, but I’m under the impression that “salope” indicates promiscuity.
Although I am obviously not apprised of her private life, I honestly believe that the truth in Coulter’s case is much more depressing: That as a woman in her mid-50s, she literally has not had sex in decades–if ever–and she goes to bed each night with nothing more stimulating than a shot or ten of whiskey; that this was also true when she was younger and more conventionally pretty; and that there is nobody in her life who cares for her–no kids, no husband, no lover, no family. Just a few wingnut mental cases who still hit on her with mortifying ineptitude.
Meanwhile, those “hippie pie-wagons” whose appearances she continually insults have cultivated their sex lives and homes and loved ones.
In general, progressives should consider how utterly miserable our right-wing brethren are–including poor Ms. Coulter. Some charity toward them might be in order.

To think that Coulter can decide to turn American media on its head for fun and profit, by blathering about the most outrageous thing she and her friends can dream up around the hookah… well, on second thought, that is the way they choose their candidates.

I don’t think she’s that influential, I think much of what she says is strictly for effect and to keep her in the public eye, and she presents wishful thinking as honest analysis. She’s saying “Terrorist attack + Trump in lead a year before the election = Trump win.” The GOP isn’t considered as strong on terrorism as she thinks, and Trump has absolutely no experience or credibility on such issues of national security. What a nasty crank. She’s inconsequential; let’s just ignore her.

The French are BIG on language. I am, myself, fascinated with language, especially languages so different so as to make English and Spanish seem the same. A West African friend of mine gave me a ride from a mechanic and, while driving, took a telephone call in his own language.
