And she spoke eloquently on the need to focus on local issues and coming together to fix real problems (like infrastructure & jobs). Her interview was also a nice corrective for O’Donnell about the how the narrative was about competence – not taking a much-due victory lap over a nasty anti-LGBT opponent. Very classy.

Right now, Republicans are bailing on a weekly basis. Many of the upper GOP crust are in such deep shit that they can’t do all the dastardly shit that they had planned because of Cockholster-Gate and tonight’s huge landslide of a win means Trumpp is hurting them. He’ll never do any better.
I know he could nuke the world but I’m not convinced that he would or that others wouldn’t stop him.

Oh I think it would be fun if Ryan made it to the Oval Office as the third runner up, once Trump is Dumped, Pence is dispensed, and Ryan still won’t be able to get anything done except wash the pots and pans in the WH kitchen.
AND, very early in her interview, she made it a point to be gracious and to express empathy for what her adversary and his family and political allies must be feeling. If she had lost, I am absolutely certain that there would have been zero empathy for the courage she had shown in running against Virginia’s proud Chief Homophobe. As a matter of fact, the snark would have emanated from the White House on down, and all over the Brietbart-FOX-Limbaugh-Hugh Hewitt axis.
She also spent a good part of her interview talking about the importance to a democracy of people doing her prior job, politics reporting for local news media, an industry being taken over and choked to death.by the likes of the Ricketts and Sinclair right wing conglomerates.
Its not. Trump gets impeached, Pence will be lamest of lame duck Presidents (and most probably will still be dogged by investigations). He will be primaried in such a situation, most likely by multiple people. The damage done to the GOP by having him impeached will be severe.
And Pence is the one sane enough not to start WWIII, not Trump.

I agree. It’s tricky. The impeachment proceedings might rally a disjointed GOP which is currently imploding. The first election post the Clinton impeachment mess had the Democrats cleaning up. Dangerous stuff.
One of the main reasons we have Trump is that while the Democrats were focusing on D.C., the GOP was quietly cleaning up at the state level. Then they gerrymandered the heck out of every state they controlled and VIOLA! Trump’s electoral victory despite losing the popular vote.
The Democrats need to take a page out of this playbook, and, thanks to the tsunami of grassroots organizing brought on by the election of this idiot in chief, they have. Heaven knows the DNC wasn’t capable of this. They are useless. Nope, hatred of Trump is the gift that keeps on giving.
Last night’s results were an excellent start. A year from now, with Trump further hobbled and humiliated, but not given the chance to garner sympathy via impeachment proceedings, the democrats can win both state and national elections and start to do some really important work. Like end Citizens United, get the gerrymandering good and gone, fix ObamaCare, focus on climate change. You know, save the country.
The long view is the smart view here. It’s worth the wait.
