Discussion: Americans Detained In North Korea Call For US Help

Discussion for article #227077

Miller seems to be a loony. I’m surprised the North Koreans aren’t anxious simply to get him off their hands. He’s not much of a bargaining chip.

Fowle is a puzzle. “I’ve got a wife and three elementary school-aged kids that depend on me for support.” So why was he traveling to a dangerous place without his family? But the message there is pretty clear: if you’re going to North Korea, leave your magic books at home.

Bae? Hey, any missionary who ventures into North Korea deserves whatever he gets. Let Jeebus spring him.

I’m reminded of this State Department tweet on such situations…

I never understand why people are so willing to put themselves in countries hostile to Americans…i.e., the three “hikers” in Iran. These people are inconsiderate…putting their families through hell, putting their own government in awkward positions. But Miller really throws me…why would a 24 year old seek asylum in a country like NK…makes no sense. And is he not getting what he wanted…permanent residence? He looked terrified, Fowle looked extremely nervous and Bae seems like he has lost hope. sad, very sad.

Maybe we should shoot a few missiles over the top of North Korea and let them splash down in the Yellow Sea…you know, what North Korea does when they want to make a point.

I don’t know you, but I’m getting tired of these idiots that keep venturing into Countries that everybody knows are openly hostile to the USA. They know the risks beforehand, they should accept the consequences.

But the Lord has commanded them! They must spread the word in these far flung crapholes or else the Lord will torture them for eternity!

the guy made his own bed, so he’s gotta live in it. You are on your own, big guy.

they said they do not know what punishment they could face or what the specific charges against them are.

America is better in that respect.

Soooo, wait. What? You guys are saying that Jesus doesn’t save …? I’m getting a confused, mixed message here. Maybe Jesus will provide for your wife and children while you do time for your crimes? But, y’know, have faith. You have achieved the martyrdom that you seek. At least, in your own mind. And, that’s what really counts in your cult … belief over Reality.

“I didn’t know it was illegal. Whatever it is that I did that I refuse to talk about.” Yeah. That works so well in the American system, too. You fucking brain surgeon.

I would be willing to send Dennis Rodman over. He’s high-ranking enough, according to Dennis Rodman. But, only on the condition that Dennis Rodman actually stays in North Korea permanently on this trip.

I have no sympathy for these three, they were dumb enough to press their luck, and they got what they should have expected.
