Come over to our side, Lisa. I don’t agree with you on a lot of things, but you voted your principles.
We’ll we’re not going to let her on our berth on hale-bop, that’s for sure!
EXACTLY. WTF are they whining about? Take your proposed “reprimand” and stick it where the sun don’t shine, A-holes.
Good of the AK GOP to verify that when the founders wrote “by and with the advice and consent of the Senate” the textual meaning and original intent was “as directed by the party.”
Alaska has the highest rate of sexual assault and rape cases of any other state. Additionally the many residents have health insurance through the ACA plus the Indian tribes are insured through the federally run Tribal health plan. Ironic since Sarah Palin’s grandchild who is of Inuit background is insured through them.
Murkowski is listening to her constituents while Trump watches so-called pundits on Fox and the Alaska GOP throws a hissy fit.
I would hope that Senate Minority Leader Schumer is courting Murkowski with an eye to her caucusing with the Democrats after the mid-terms.
I don’t think a threat from the GOP hierarchy worries her to much after all in 2010 when these brainiacs picked tea party candidate, she waged a write-in campaign and won.
Most women get the structural misogyny in the US. There still is no paid maternity leave, infant mortality is quite high for an industrial country, and public education produces mediocre results (e.g. PISA rankings). Women are under-represented on corporate boards and executive management. Americans are woefully ignorant about sexual health. For white privileged men to start whinging about the threats they face, well, frankly it’s rich.
A delegation of Democrats should approach Senator Murkowski sometime in the next day or so to invite her to change parties (or declare herself an independent) and begin caucusing with the Democrats.
And she should publicly state that she made this change because she was elected to serve all Alaskans, not just the Palin branch of the GOP.
She already ran as a independent when she lost in a primary and won. So perhaps its time for her to become a true independent and even choose to caucus with the Ds. If she does that now, and the Ds take the Senate, she could have more influence because she’ll never have any in the GOP.
Besides, look at the map. All western edge states are now solidly D. Alaska is an aberration due primary to a strong Libertarian streak. But there are large Native American populations and some hippies, so she could have her own brand and make it clear that the Rs have lost their way. The Ds would welcome her as probably less conservative than Joe Manchin, but free to vote her conscience. That’s not allowed in today’s GOP.
Great Idea! Then she can switch parties.
Please proceed.
I am quite happy for Dems to offer Murkowski to keep her current committee chair position if she will agree to caucus with the Dems and vote for Dem leadership of the Senate. Sounds like the GOP want her to go too.
Holy fuck. I lost eight years. Thanks.
But then, I doubt I’m the only person who lost track of eight years in Alaskan politics.
She even tried to placate them by officially casting a “Present” vote - and it still didn’t work. Senator Murkowski, that’s a message about where you’ll be welcome in the future.
Every one of those “Senators” needs to be publicly spit on whenever they dare show their faces for the rest of their miserable lives. They are literally the enemy of the United States. They should pay using every weapon at our disposal and then a few more because, well, fuck them all.
Murkowski gives two craps about what the Alaskan GOP thinks about her, they double crossed her for some teabagger crook, and then she went to win as a write-in with strong support from native-americans, and those guys loath Kavanaugh. She owes nothing to the GOP .
OT CAUTION: MAY BE TOO RICH TO READ. DISCONNECT ALL IRONY METERS.
Take a moment to unpack this statement by Girl Friday of the Guardians Of Predators (GOP) and Belle of the Bald Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME!):
Asked about efforts to fund her opponent, Collins said, “If our politics has come to the point where people are trying to buy votes and buy positions, then we are in a very sad place.”
Spoken like Ms. Paramount of Principle. …I’ve written the Vatican to begin the process of her beautification. I see her becoming the premier deity associated with dissembling. In fact, I already see her as a plastic icon.
A dashboard “Saint Suzie” might be a good antidote to drunk driving. I mean hurling your stomach contents is going to be a sobering experience, no?
Please proceed, Republican party.
Please proceed…
Oh, all the Republicans voted their principles, every single one of them.
It’s just that their principles are…ah…not quite what they would have you believe!
