Discussion: Alan Grayson Is A Ted Cruz Birther

McCain’s father was in the service so that is acceptable, but Cruz’s mother was in Canada. She and his Dad became Canadian citizens, so that should be questioned. They constantly tried to defy the rules of the court with the birther issues regarding President Obama. Even when he was President they tried. Slime ball Trump made it his mantra for quite sometime and none of the Republicans voiced their distaste for the rhetoric about his place of birth. They even alluded to the fact that Hawaii was not a State. So I agree with Alan Grayson, just continue to tie up the matter in court regardless of whether it sticks or not. I remember all the lies and the lawsuits by all the liars in the republican conservatives.

Grayson is merely tweaking the wingnuts.

If I recall correctly, I think there were some people who even wanted to have Congress pass a special provision allowing Schwarzenegger to run for president

I heard Orrin Hatch speak out on this He wanted to change the Constitution for Arnold. Seriously.

I had to look it up to see if I was just crazy, but nope, I was right. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/11/27/us-election-trump-idUSKBN0TG2AN20151127

If the lawsuit fails, then that gives us new ammunition to defend Obama against Birthers, who I am sure we will continue to hear from until Obama passes away.

And if the lawsuit succeeds, then we will be done with the excremental Cruz.

Lighten up! Grayson is here to entertain us, with farce more often than not. He is a brilliant man with a really sneaky sense of humor. He doesn’t even take himself seriously.

The fact that Eduardo Cruz’s mother was American-born is relevant, EXCEPT for one thing: There is evidence that she RENOUNCED her American citizenship (just as the senator renounced his Canadian citizenship), which would make her ONLY a Canadian citizen, and would negate the senator’s claim to dual citizenship which makes him eligible to become POTUS. And also to be a Senator! If Canada can document that his mother DID renounce her U.S. citizenship around the time she married the elder Cruz, then Eduardo (Ted) did NOT have dual Canadian/U.S. citizenship, and therefore, since he hasn’t applied for
American citizenship, he is an alien, and subject to deportation. This needs to be thoroughly investigated, at least as much as Obama’s citizenship status has been… Of course, the TP’ers won’t allow it.

Not to mention the maternity testing linking her DNA to his.

Well, at least before the Turks embarrassed him.

Cruz is such a hypocrite. According to him, he is incontrovertibly a “natural born” citizen because one parent was born in the US. But he would be happy to deny citizenship to babies who were actually born in the United States-- truly “naturally born.” (That would include his rival Marco Rubio, of course-- born here of two non-US parents-- an American citizen by any measure, with no other citizenship to renounce.)
Of course, his supporters don’t care that his immigration views are utterly at odds with his life. They like hypocrisy.

Actually, Saren, that has never been the conventional understanding of “natural born citizen”. Obama is a citizen because HE was born in the US-- his mother’s citizenship is and always was irrelevant. (Good trolling though to use that false equivalency!)

You might not remember there was muttering in the Bush camp in 2000 (when McCain was running against him) of challenging whether McCain was eligible-- he was born of TWO American citizens while his father was serving overseas in the military. (It was generally accepted that military children are citizens no matter where they were born-- but this was a special situation for the military, for obvious reasons, and not applicable to just anyone).
The children of a citizen can indeed get citizenship. But they can’t wait until they’re adult and running for president to renounce their other citizenship.

The Supreme Court will probably have to resolve this eventually, but “natural-born citizen” has a meaning beyond “citizen”. We should maybe change that, but we’re not there yet.

Since when did Kenya have any sovereignty over any one in Hawaii?

Link? You can’t just say “I renounce my citizenship”. There are documents involved. Let’s not start acting like Obama Birther’s, we liberals are supposed to be smarter than them. We should not stoop to their level, which is what “showtime” Grayson is doing. This is real stupid.

Go big AL!!! So what if it gets thrown out, he’s made his point. The GOP is useless and Cruz is a joke right along with the main douche bag Trump.

FWiW, We were on a cruise tour that had a stop in the Panama Canal, and our land tour by bus went from East to West coasts and back. Early in the trip, I asked the tour guide to show us where the McCain birth hospital was, and he gladly obliged. So this was a known fact among locals,

As born in a US territory with American parents, he was clearly eligible to run (from that technical standpoint).

HOWEVER, on the Sarah Palin nomination issue, he completely DQ’ed.
