Discussion: Alabama Student Group Invites White Nationalist To Give Speech On Diversity

MY EYES! OH MY GOD–MY EYES!!!

And my brain… I need a shower after seeing that last one.

Any group that calls itself America First is suspect and then they have the Don’t Tread on Me snake that has been appropriated by the alt-rt.

And they know what he’ll say before he says it. So, sure it’s college students interested in “free speech.” And I’m the Queen of the Gypsies.

Uh, no.

These days I wonder who funds these groups. Goodness knows they’ve been emboldened by recent events to come out of the sewers, and don’t need Russki funding to exist. But I still wonder.

The type has always been around — generally various sorts of losers who find solace in fantasies about “them” conspiring against the “superiors”. It would certainly be refreshing if those who tout the superiority of one group (ethnic or whatever) over all others didn’t always belong to the supposedly superior group themselves. (As a historical note, the three leading figures of the Nazi regime, Hitler, Himmler, and Goebbels were respectively: a failed artist, a failed champagne salesman, and a failed playwright.) And since misery loves company, these types will band together and make noise out of proportion to their numbers – and now that they have a kindred soul in the “bully pulpit” (never a more apt phrase!) and a megaphone in Fox “News” naturally they will become more public. They are still losers.

I’m aware of that, but still. These days.

I’m trying to think who on the far left might qualify as an equivalent. For some odd reasons there don’t seem to be a lot of folks from the SLA still around.

I don’t know. I know there are funded recruiters for the ratwing on campuses and I don’t know who is paying the bills and we need to find out I guess.

hahahahahahahahahaha

Though I’m not sure why Lucy went with the snaggly teeth. I have yet to see a Rom with snaggly teeth and they are all over Italy.

I think snaggly teeth are a historical artifact. Teeth used to depend on race/class in significant part because of nutrition (like the old “rule” that for every child weaned a woman would lose a tooth).

I think you’re right.

It still is a kind of tell. If the person’s teeth are white and even, chances are very good that the person is an American. hahahahahaha

We have a teeth fetish here and extremely good dentistry.

They’re both racist, but white nationalists claim they want segregation because whites are not “comfortable” being around black folk – not because of any assumed superiority. However, if you listen long enough, you’ll usually here them slip and make a “superiority” argument when explaining that presumed “discomfort”.

Taylor’s been known to say things like: How many white parents make an effort to enroll their children in an all-black school? How many white families seek out an all-black neighborhood when they buy a home? He says these things to support his claims that “white people will never be comfortable around other races”. And, “it just doesn’t work to mix the races”.

The better way to counter these mental misfits, IMO, is to directly and calmly challenge their flawed reasoning. Way to start is insist they define “white”. They can’t make a single claim if they haven’t defined their terms. And if they try to define it as being “from” some location or locations, require that they define the time period as well. One of the reasons they succeed in finding followers is because they allow the definitions of everything to drift and float to allow each person to think, ah, ok then I’m superior…well that sounds right…

Basically, white supremacists want to receive credit for the accomplishments of others. Instead of that, how about a meritocracy? Push that argument with any white supremacist and you will quickly see their rhetoric fall apart.

I’d rather see Ta-Nehisi Coates as the contrast to Taylor – calm, rational, intelligent. Not a fanatic.

I always loved that flag. I even had one back in the day. Now that’s all ruined.

White racist circle jerk. Charming.
