Seriously, their actions are causing ripple effects all throughout the black communities in Alabama – and very likely physical hardships and possible death related to the restrictions to driving (to work, seek food, shelter, etc.), voting, and just plain taking part in society. I’m not sure what to make of Collier. He seems so wishy washy - first seems for closures then against.

Gee, they wanted to close 8 out of ten DMV offices that had a high percentage of non-White voters. But it’s not about race. Just a coincidence, is all.
And by the way, using the DMV offices as leverage to get what you want politically is wrong on so many levels. Whatever the justification it wasn’t right and Collier is complicit too, no matter what his lawyer’s spin is. Reminds me of Christy’s bridge incident. Why aren’t conservatives outraged about this like they were with their bullshit allegation regarding IRS and Lois Lerner…??? Can we please get some fucking consistency here…???
It seems that the Republican legislature of Alabama is really outdoing the incomprehensible nastiness of the Republican legislature of Oklahoma.

Please note that the real crime here is a racist scheme to deny a certain class of citizens voting rights. Once again, a States Rights issue is being perverted. The adultery and money tweaks pale in comparison. But, it’s a solid-Republican Southern state, so perhaps this is more feature than bug.
