Discussion: Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore: I Have 'Many Friends Who Are Homosexual'

Discussion for article #233167

As a gay man, I want to say that I’m fed up with the likes of Moore and Huckabilly claiming that they have all these gay friends. I betcha they’re all invisible 6 foot rabbits. And I will also add, that even though these two (and so many other) idiots claim to have gay friends, has anyone ever noticed that those gay friends never seem to materialize? What self-respecting gay person would ever consider their actions and words to be those of a friend? (And I said self-respecting, which totally negates any gay Republican.)

You have many friends , who you are actively trying to deny equal rights to. You also have many friends whose friendship would still not matter enough to you to attend what I imagine would be a major milestone event in their lives. Weird definition of friendship he seems to have.

I’ve had many friends who are homosexual

And once I learned they’re gay, I dropped them like a hot potato - hence the past-tense.

He does have gay friends, I’m sure. None of them have told him they are gay, however.

Ok. I’m pretty sure he just contradicted himself. But unraveling his form of thinking makes my head hurt so…I’ll pass.

Hey Roy: If upon being invited, you wouldn’t go to the wedding of these gay people you say you know, you’re not their friend.

“I’ve had many friends who are homosexual,”

Oh, I’m sure you had…* *until they found out how repugnant your views are about them, and then they weren’t your friends anymore.

That’s why most of these idiots choose to believe its a “lifestyle choice” as opposed to being gay naturally from birth. They can’t and won’t touch that question with a ten foot pole. It messes with their demagoguery.

“This is not about how I treat people, or how I go to a wedding or a marriage or anything. It’s about the constitution of Alabama and the Constitution of the United States…”

“…and I don’t like neither of 'em…”

But notice he didn’t say “have.” He said “had.” He has had friends who were homosexual. I wonder if that means they are no longer friends, and if they are not, did they drop him when he expressed opposition to marriage equality, or did he drop them when he realized they were gay?

Post hoc: I see several others have also noticed that choice of wording.

Ummmm . . . . . lier.

They could also be dead or still in the closet.

I love it when their bigotry outweighs their demi-godery.

I would imagine that not one gay person in America considers Roy Moore a friend.
