Reminds me so much of my grandmother (G-d rest her soul). She loved me with all her heart, but was a staunch Republican. Most of her family was GOP office holders going back generations.
(Fortunately, it’s not genetic.)
In the 60s, before Dick’s comeback, she corresponded with Pat Nixon. In the 70s, she lunched with Quayles. She went to her grave convinced Nixon was framed.
As a child, she once took me to visit family graves, when nature called. It was a rural cemetery without facilities, so she directed me to a certain grave and said, “Pee here.”
When I asked why, she replied, “He was a Democrat.”
(I chose a large tree elsewhere.)
Can we have an amen to that?
Was she a Daughter of the Confederacy member? Those ladies are still angry that the Union did not pay to bury the rebels in a decent grave.
Through the years I’ve had some conversations with Daughters of the Confederacy members. Those that I’ve spoken with have been so deluded that it was a stunning, and at the time, very eye opening.
Poor whites were manipulated and exploited back during Civil War times by the Top 1% just like they are today by conservatives. Those Palin People are so easy to sucker.
