Discussion for article #234009
Alabama is going to end up squandering millions of dollars in order to try and stop the inevitable.
Performing gay marriages is a choice many Alabama judges make after prison.
Additionally the legislature is considering allowing EMTs to opt out of performing life saving procedures on critically injured Jews. Just sayin’…
It’ll be called the “I’ll save you if you’ve been saved” law.
“Performing gay marriages was not a choice. I hear most of these judges were born that way” --Ben Carson digression apology
Well, I wanted to get all outragey about this…but then I remembered…Alabama. Still a slave state, they just aren’t as obvious about it as the 1830’s. so meh. No surprise here. At some point the marshals are going to have to return to Alabama and straighten out some idiots…again. History has come full circle.
When are the (U.S.) Supremes going to put the smackdown on Moore?
And I am all for it; bankrupt the state. I almost wish I was gay so I could move there try to get married and then file the lawsuit against the state. Its going to be easy money.
“I almost wish I was gay…”
Spend some time in prison, that'll convert you.
;-)
The state of Alabama: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
Nice try.
If this passes, put a stopwatch on it to see how quickly it’s declared unconstitutional.
At least according to Ben Carson…
Alabama is rather broke already…at this point they won’t have any money left to give to the rich.
This week in Alabama…Bible study followed by “just say no to Sharia law!”
I know prison rape is something that’s commonly joked about, so traditional a source of humor that it’s often done without thinking it through. But rape of any sort shouldn’t be joked about – it trivializes what is pretty awful.
Ministers already can opt out of performing same-sex marriages.
Elected officials will not be given the same “out” by the federal courts.
Alabama is an embarrassment.
I wasn’t trivializing rape. I was trivializing Ben Carson.
Alabamans don’t need more laws. They need to enforce the laws that are already on the books.
If a judge won’t do his/her duty, they should be removed from the bench.
If judges can’t perform the duties of their position because of their religious beliefs, they are free to resign.
