Discussion: Al Franken: Trump Needs To Make Good On Promises Of Unity By Firing Bannon

Franken called on Trump to unify the country by addressing the “wounds” incurred over the course of the long presidential campaign.

“I urge President-elect Trump to begin that work by surrounding himself with people equal to the task,” he said. “Mr. Bannon is not one of them. And he should not serve in the next administration.”

Thank you, Senator Franken.

Is it possible to start drawing up articles of impeachment now so that they’re ready to go as soon as this buffoon is sworn into office?

After eight years of no drama, I’m not comfortable that America is ready for the reality horror show that will play our every damn day for the coming four years, nor do we deserve to suffer through it.

This is the piece you need to read to get an idea of what Bannon is and why he is more dangerous than the Trump kids and the GOP.

seems Big Al missed the memo on the Victory Tour only thru the states that voted for Cheeto Donnie… a sure way to promote unity…

But Bannon complimented him, Al. Scott Baio, Steve Bannon, David Duke – who among us can resist sincere flattery??

Trump revels in hearing this sort of stuff. It’s like handing meth to an addict.

Bravo Al Franken.

Would that our newly elected Senate Minority Leader had used the occasion of his election to make a similar statement, on behalf of the many citizens of his State who feel threatened and offended by the GOP’s campaign and underhandedness, but alas.

Thankfully, we do not need to wait for Senator Schumer to lead, because we have Greg Popovich, once again.

Yes, but you may as well draw them with a crayon. You’d probably be about 216 votes short of a 218-vote majority in the House.

“This is nasty stuff,” Franken said. “This is vile, and it comes all the way from the top, from Mr. Bannon himself.”

If Senator Franken truly wants Chiselin’ Trump to give proper consideration to his remarks, he’s going to have to learn to give proper deference to Chiselin’ Trump, such as pretending that he is not subordinate to Bannon.

I think Sen. Franken has done his due diligence by staying out of the national spotlight and doing his job, but now we need him to be more visible and start leading alongside Sen. Warren.

“If President-elect Trump truly meant what he said…”

Al Franken, still the comedian!

Bannon’s response will, no doubt, lump him in with Bill Kristol as another “renegade Jew”.

(And say what you will about the late, great Air America Radio, it provided a much-needed voice through the Dumbya Occupation, including Chuck D, Lizz Winstead, Rachel Maddow, Marc Maron, Sam Seder, Janeane Garofalo, Randi Rhodes, Mike Papantonio, and Mike Malloy.)

All Americans are equal, but some Americans are more equal than others.

The less-equal simply need to re-learn their God-ordained Place, which includes accepting that good Christian™ white guys can do whatever they want to them. .

We need every senator and house member to take turns on a daily bases to comment on what went on at Brietbart under Bannon’s tenure. The Democrats need to start playing hard ball if they wish to make in roads in 2018 elections.

I originally found TPM because Franken mentioned it, that was a great show.

No, please, no talk of impeachment from the Democrats. Let the GOP take him down and injure themselves in the process. HO will breach ethics and protocols, he will fail to deliver on the simplest of campaign promises, he will shame this nation with his lack of knowledge and diplomacy, he will serve his own selfish interests before anything or anyone else, he answers to no one - especially now, and he knows no loyalty beyond “what have you done for me lately?” (see: Christie, Chris)

It is for them to take him down. Our path is to fight the battles worth fighting while staying out of the line of fire. We will not cooperate, we will not appease but we will not launch the 1st missile - that must fall to the GOP so that the torch and pitchfork-carrying villagers know who has betrayed their Dear Leader.

I remember I actually got to watch it on TV for a short time, when it was carried on CurrentTV.

I could get behind that. Al is brilliant, personable and very knowledgeable. I think it was during the Kerry campaign that the Sundance Channel ran video of his daily radio show. It was amazing the facts he had at the ready.

Let’s see what other stars rise in the next few years.

Impeach? As in boot him out of office? You need to explain to me why Pence would be a suitable replacement.
