Discussion for article #225823

Enzi’s a tool. Everybody else just wanted to get the confirmation done and move on.

Enzi, R-Wyo., had been unhappy with the decision last year by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to limit filibusters for most presidential nominations.

.In turn, blocking Tefft’s confirmation made White House staffer Ben Rhodes unhappy

No.
Enzi was unhappy about Sen Reid limiting the GOPs record breaking filibusters. In turn, Enzi pulled a dickish and childish move by blocking Ambassador nominees - including one for Russia. After getting much heat for the mindblowingly stupid move (we are, after all, in the middle of conflict there) he unblocked and the ambassador was confirmed.

Mike must think Liz Cheney’s still trying to out stupid his 2014 campaign.

Wyoming has as many senators as California, Texas, or New York. It’s time for a new constitution.

What’s the problem with ambassadors anyways? It is just something else to block to keep the blockhead teabaggers engaged. It serves absolutely no positive purpose for anyone in the US.

I’m not so sure that an envoy to deal with Putin is going to make a difference but who knows what nefariousness Putin is actually contemplating and has in the works. Our boy Snowden isn’t saying.

The sanctions on EXXon will likely reap as many positives as anything. Even though it only limits oil and not gas. The ambassador can make things look friendly while we choke the shit out of Putin, I guess that’s cool.

Obstruction is all they’ve got. What a sad fall for a once powerful political party. But that’s what happens when you allow the extreme to drive the car. The GOP has always had its lunatic fringe, but they usually kept it locked up in the basement. Somebody lost the key.
