Discussion: After Cruz Disaster, Kasich Has No Regrets About Skipping GOP Convention

And now he can be a free rider on Cruz’s Trump attacks, without facing accusations of Cruz-level party disloyalty. I’m sure he’s a very happy man today…

Oh, comeon, Kasey Kasich, you know you wanted to mingle with the Trump Flakes. Might have been dangerous to your political and/or physical health, though. However, it’s your party…too bad for you.

So that was the evidence you were waiting for, Governor??!?

I bet he’s delighted that he’s not linked (more than he already is) with Trump.

What a clusterf*ck.

Kasich was always the Repbulican that I – a bleeding-blue Democrat – feared to run against. I was so glad he did not prevail (or, more recently, accept Trump’s offer to become the vice-de-facto-president).

Kasich is just that near-normal (while holding abhorrent views) that he might have won this year against the hated Hillary.

EXACTLY. And he’s much smarter than Pence, which would have made him even more deadly.

You are absolutely correct. Happily, the Republicans (now known as having the brain power of a box of rocks) were too stupid to see this.

Even though they are very, very small and moldy.

Kasich: “I think you can all understand why I didn’t show up to speak at a convention, by the way, after what you saw last night.”

“When people wrong you, go after those people, because it’s a good feeling.” – Donald Trump, 2007

Meh. I am not convinced of that, by any stretch. Kasich was largely ignored throughout the primaries…he was literally pleading for attention during the debates. And, his claims and rhetoric largely went unchallenged as a result

I think Hillary would have cleaned his clock. His core plank was that he was the architect of Bill’s surplus. That lie falls apart very quickly under any actual scrutiny…and both Bill and Hillary would have relished doing it. Kasich is just as reactionary as Pence on women’s issues, particularly but not exclusively, including abortion. His “economic” record in Ohio is highly questionable (he basically pushed off state services to local municipalities…and then cut their funding) and the income side of it is largely based on fracking, which with the decline in oil prices is already causing big pain in Ohio. Additionally, he is reputed to have a temper that makes McCain blush. That would most definitely come out on the trail.

In summary, Kasich got a pass because nobody considered him worth the effort. If he had been actually vetted, he would have come up as big of a nothing as Rubio.

And here I thought the two hour drive from Columbus was the reason.

Kasich always was the smartest clown in the GOP Clown College.

Sit back and avoid the massacre.

While I agree nearly 100% with your thoughtful note, surely no one could be as big of a nothing as Rubio.
