Nice. The right act by the right person.
This brave woman deserves all our admiration.
I’m in awe of her. That was beautiful!
Gasp!! a woman and black to boot. I feel some stereotypes being challenged and maybe even some “anti-pole” climbing restrictive legislation coming up from the “old white male society” thinking women should only be barefoot and pregnant and if you are black poor on top of that .
"... a woman climbed the flagpole and — despite calls by police to get down — removed the banner."
Despite calls?
Seems to me she followed their instructions to the letter. The lady REALLY got down. From http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Get%20down
get down

“…harged with defacing monuments on state Capitol grounds.”
Whoopsie. They dropped a “defacing.”
Here. Typo fixed:
"…charged with defacing monuments defacing the state Capitol grounds. "
BRAVO, BREE! Great job!
I was thinking it’d be clever to burn the confederate flag using one of those brookstone drones, but this works too!
How about the continued defacement of the rights the state’s African American population? And what did the state do? Raised the flag once again. GOP words were nothing but lip service. This flag will remain flying.
Now this is a GoFundMe cause I would support!
Bravo to Ms. Newsome!!
That woman has bigger balls than all the lily white cowardly men of the SC legislature. She showed them how to have honor and intestinal fortitude.
The only thing I disagree with this activist pulling down the hate banner, is that she didn’t throw it on the ground and spit on it!
Newsome shouldn’t have pulled down the banner. She should have left it there, applied a torch to it, and let it burn.
If one wants to break the cycle, one doesn’t repay hate with hate; one repays hate with justice.
One nation.
Take it down.
Throwing the hate banner to the ground and spitting on it IS justice!
A portrait in patriotism. Well done, girl.
How incredibly lame of the police. They should’ve let her get all the way down, douse it in fuel oil and burn it. Then write a ticket for an illegal camp fire.
She honors the memory of all the brave Union soldiers whose sacrifices were necessary to defeat the traitors.
