What really sold Trump on him was that he refers to his 7.5% vote share in the 2014 Iowa Republican Senate primary as “an overwhelming majority.”
I look forward to the inevitable news that Whitaker liked to knock back a vodka or two with friends of Konstantin Nikolaev or Dmitri Rybolovlev.
Whitaker also asserted: “The truth is, there was no collusion with the Russians and the Trump campaign.”
In all fairness, that was the consensus of Lavrov, Kislyak, and the TASS staff in that secret Oval Office meeting from which Trump booted the US press.

As posted elsewhere, this midterm was a big deal (and continues to be in isolated places, and FL and GA- Broward County in FL is wondering why there is a 24K deficit voting for only the Senate seat, but no other votes).
For folks a little depressed about Beto, etc., do not be. This was a huge success by any parameter, especially downballot and the Govs.

Yeah I agree. We made some spectacular inroads on the state level here in Texas and it was a great election. I was very sad about Beto yesterday and it still hurts. But it isn’t overshadowing everything else today and I can see more clearly what a blue success it was = all over the country.
Election by election we can retake the ground we’ve lost over the decades and we made so much progress this time.
