Helpful and informative piece, Ms. Ollstein. Thank you.

Hey now, it feels good and right to take that money. Just how on earth does anyone think The Dumpster Administration is going to find the resources to fund “The American .001% Tax Freedom Act” (The FU, I Got Mine Act).

Best description of Sessions yet!
“Now, Jeff Sessions, a tiny, racist vole who happens to be Attorney General…”

“A vole is a small rodent; a relative of the mouse, with a stouter body, a shorter, hairy tail, a slightly rounder head, smaller ears and eyes…!”

Don’t know whether anyone else has commented on this.

In the photo for this article, Donnie is surreptitiously giving us the finger.

When I worked in middle schools, this occasionally happened in year book photos. Very mature.

Donnie really is about 12 years old.

I know voles all too well. When we worked in a remote corner of western Alaska, they were everywhere–Including our house. What is more, we lived in one house that, due to snow and wind patterns, would be routinely completely covered in snow. Sometimes, when drawing back the curtains, we would see voles digging in the snow, like one of those old Ant Farms. Yikes!

And yes, Sessions reminds me of them very much.

I was thinking the same thing.
The head of the justice department, clueless as to how this law stuff and government work.
I was watching him with Trump at a photo op and he just looks like a sad little troll

Once trump gets another pal on the supreme court, the old IOKIYAR rule will be in full force. Those guys are old hands at finding a line of legal reasoning to support whatever result they want.

Thanks to Alice Ollstein for an article that helps me understand the nuts and bolts of sanctuary cities better than anything I have read to date. In a painful attempt to understand what the 25% are thinking, I have begun to watch a few minutes of Fox. They conflate this issue with the Maryland rape case to the point where one would think the only people sanctuary cities protect are murderers, rapists, and drug dealers. Then again, the regulars at Fox–commentators and watchers both–would never take the time to think things through. Here on the southern border, a few churches are gearing up–again-- to offer sanctuary to, primarily, Mexicans and Central Americans, I am aware that the idea of sanctuary is legally complex, and that the law provides no clear answer to all of the immigrant problems. But it is refreshing for someone to handle the issue with clarity, as Alice does.

I just hope the Democrats are already working on how to deal with the departure of “President” comrade Trump. The thought of Pence getting a boost into the presidents position is almost as appalling as what we have now. As fruit of the poisonous tree, Pence, Gorsuch (if he gets in) and all the rest of the Trump people need be removed as quickly as possible from any positions of authority.

It needs to be made clear that no one should benefit from treasonous collusion, even if they weren’t the ones getting deposits in their bank accounts from Cyprus.

There is no applicable federal law pertaining to the suit.

I guess that’s why they hold state-wide elections in Alabama either during football season for the general, or during spring practice for the primary. Nobody knows or cares who they are voting for; it’s just all “Roll, Tide.” And look what we get, a Senator Sessions.

They are punitive little pricks. Revengeful, vindictive pricks. They don’t care about sanctuary cities, they don’t care about cities at all. They care about power. If they were in the least bit idealistic, or showed they actually gave a sht about this country it ‘could’ be different but no.

Conservative groups that celebrated this victory over “infringement on state sovereignty by the federal government” may now be dismayed to learn that it could throw a wrench into the Trump administration’s current plan to punish sanctuary cities.

May it be not just a wrench, but a hammer, buzz-saw, screwdriver, router, drill press, plier, blow torch or whatever sort of tool that will help dismantle their breathtaking, ignorant nordic based white supremacist hypocrisy.

(Reasoned critical thinking used to be a tool.)

No, no, no. This is nonsense. We all know that the GOP is the expert on states’ rights. And we also know they get to decide when states’ rights are important or not (which is only when they screech about states’ rights while arguing for some draconian GOP “policy” or, more usually, while arguing against a policy that might actually help someone who isn’t already filthy rich).

I feel like sanctuary cities are a losing political issue for Democrats. I’m very uneasy about this.
