Discussion: 3 Dead In Northern California Shooting, Gunman Killed After Wounding Children

I would be happy if it was just enforced, and regulated, as written.

I could live with that too, but I’ve come to see that amendment as containing a disturbing subtext that is really bad. The subtext is that there are some situations in which violence is a valid response.

Not a good thing to have in the constitution in my opinion.

Yes, but those really were different times. The weapons available much different. And there was definitely an aspect of slave control to it’s inclusion.

I suppose an Amendment can be negated by another, as with Prohibition, but given the state of this nation I would never support a Constitutional Convention. We would not survive.

ETA: And how in the hell would you get 2/3s of the states to support such an Amendment? (do I remember that right?) Liberals need to spread out from the big urban areas…or something.

He stayed home today. He had a head cold. Which may have saved his life.

Nearing? We’ve been there for years.

I don’t think it’s going to happen in my lifetime, but I think it will happen if the nation survives. It only makes sense. That one and the 3d - they are both anachronisms.

But remember now is not the time to talk about gun control.

The good guys don’t win, they just eventually quit losing, quite often.

Its not too early for anything, its way past time and thousands and thousands of lives late in fact.
Besides, in truth we are talking about it, often and regularly and that doesn’t help either.

The solution is action to limit the purchase of weapons and a full on ban of all military styled weapons without loopholes because they’re pink or any horseshit like that.
Register every damned weapon in the country and its owner and every time it changes hands. Whomsoever is against that is suspect and needs to be investigated further.
The penalties must be severe because ignoring the laws is causing mass murder and that’s very severe. So its just fair.

Tip toeing around the subject and protecting the source of the calamity is the problem.
Its the fucking guns being unregulated, over-owned and protected far more than human life, that is the problem.

And Rancho Tehama is where the nuttiest of the nutters go to be away from things, for when “TSHTF” and they have to rise up as the new Patriotic Murkan WOLVERIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNES so they can overthrow the Marxist Oblammo Youth Hitlery NWO New Black Panthers that have been armed and directed by George Soros to Communize our beloved Murka.

They’d retreat higher up the hills, but it’s all FEDERAL land there, and you know what that means – MAOIST COMMNIZZUM!!

This dude was just having a bad morning but the loaded guns under the mattress, in the cookie jar and on top of the bookcase on the bible were screaming at him to man up and not let the sissification set in.

I mean why talk to your kids, parents, neighbors or a crisis center when blasting with your blasters is right at your fingertips.

The nutso gun conundrum; can’t live without 'em, dying meaningless death with 'em.

He had the guns illegally.

You don’t have to repeal the 2nd. There is a very good case that the 2nd’s intent is to allow citizens (and not just militia) to own firearms. The key to fixing this problem is to control semiautomatic weapons. There is already precedence. Fully automatic weapons used to be legal. They were found to be too dangerous, so they were restricted. The same could be done with semiautomatics. A huge factor in these mass killings is the power of semiautomatics. Focusing on assault weapons is politically costly, and would be ineffective even if banning were successful. Spend the political capital on restricting semiautomatics!

3 more dead conservatives
thoughts and prayers
time for cake

oh let them kill each - soon the problem will self correct
guns are just nature’s way of culling conservatives

My point exactly. A “well regulated militia” according to the current pro-gun crop when discussing the 2nd Amendment means virtually all of our citizenry. A “well regulated militia” doesn’t leave guns lying around everywhere to where even complete nuts can just grab one and go. My argument was a tongue-in-cheek way of pointing out how we’re not, in fact, a “well regulated militia” as outlined by the 2nd Amendment. We’re actually doing the opposite of what the 2nd Amendment requires.

Almost right. The last line should read:

White shooter: Thought and prayers - and a silencer (with no background check)

Maybe Pope Francis can come out with a statement that “prayers” without action is an empty gesture - Ryan being the good Catholic he is would get it then, right?

“Nor did sheriff’s officials give details on the domestic violence call.”

White dude. Expect the same sort of cover-up silence and “oops, we’re incompetent” bullshit from the 2nd or 3rd most conservative county in CA as we got with Vegas.

The NRA and 2nd Amendment wingnuts believe a M.A.D. policy is the only answer to save us from mad men. No one is safe until everyone has mutually assured their own destruction with guns.
