On a practical level, your advice has some merit. However, if the space is in the public arena, any protester has just as much of a legal right to be there and protest as the other folks. I personally draw the line at getting up in people’s personal space, screaming in their face, spraying them with anything, throwing stuff at them, fighting them, etc. Freedom of speech is a two-way street when it comes to public space.
That said, I 100% agree with you about getting people to the polls. I personally wouldn’t go to anyone’s rally with the intention to disrupt, but I would go to observe. I highly recommend we engage other like-minded people, make sure they are registered to vote and informed on the issues – and make my best efforts to see to it they actually go to the polls. Right now, I’m working on my mom, sister, one of my brothers and a neighbor friend or two.
Because the protesters are NOT the ones “by all accounts” committing acts of violence at Trump rallies. Trump supporters are committing the violence, save for this one incident that I’m aware of. It’s not uncommon for trolls from Redstate, the pre-eminent conservative right wing nut job blog, to come on TPM and spout nonsense like you posted.
Anger is a hard emotion to sustain. (It usually burns out into resentment, which does not trigger action.) Yet that is the key emotion Trump is banking on to rile up supporters. He has been able to generate anger with serial state campaigns–a few big rallies in the weeks before primaries. But it cannot work on a national scale during a 4 month campaign
The Germans managed to maintain it from the Treaty of Versailles all the way through to the fall of Berlin.
My first wife wouldn’t let go of a nominally tardy first anniversary card for about a decade.
They have been there and both candidates have aquieced to their thuggery! Big deal! Just sayin

I served a year in combat and found Rangers to be overly protected elitists phonys. Biggest myth out there.
[/quote]Your buddy @sooner might have a bone to pick with on that one…i have no opinion either way son…
are you dismissing this as the only thuggery performed by the left towards rally goers that are there for a good time to support a candidate or at least listen to what he has to say? There was a pretty big showing of thuggery in chicago just in case you missed that one. How about Arizona? Shutting down roads and interstates really? That is a public danger never min nuisance!
nope. not the first and certainly not the last ignorant person from what I can see! Either way sir, you are quite wrong in your assessment as are others. Intolerance of differing opinions have always been met with “racsist- misogynist- xenophobic- homophobic- and now, get this… Trans-phobic” Its nothing more than deflection from the real issues and topics and serves to shut down the conversation and marginalize someone and their valid points! I have seen a lot of it here…you are not alone i can assure you. There is also a lot of anger i have noticed. I try to be very light and dismissive of angry comments and ignore them but some of my humor has been met with feigned shock and horror and plain old thin skinned whinery!!! Just sayin…
