Not just in the hospital; safety off and a round chambered.

She brought the gun to the hospital because she thought she could shoot the Grim Reaper.

While this is both sad and silly at the same time, it’s fairly small potatoes as gun violence goes – no fatalities, a vending machine slightly inconvenienced, and a palpable lack of common sense that one tends to associate with Mississippi in any case.

The real headline grabber in gun violence happened over the weekend so TPM couldn’t cover it.

This is a full-sized tragedy on so many levels.

Because without her magic protective talisman all sorts of bad things might happen. I mean she has a child she needs to protect! What sort of monster are you that you would question her right to have her magic protective talisman to keep her child safe? /s

Or, the purse manufacturer, vending machine company or that hospital’s anti-American gun-free zone that forced this patriot to conceal her gun in the first place. If she’d been open-carrying in a proper holster it wouldn’t have been necessary for her to fire a warning shot at the greedy toddler planning to take her Clark Bar.

Because if you’re going to shoot a two-year-old in the face it’s good to have medical facilities handy.

Bah! When the Bad Guys With Guns appear, do you really think you want to take the time to chamber a round? What if you forget and just click on an empty chamber? That could be the second before the Bad Guys do bad things. So that’s why all guns should have a full clip magazine and one under the hammer and the safety off at all times. Because you can’t be too safe in this dangerous, frightening, terrifying scary world.

As overly protective and easily freaked out as so many American parents are, why the hell they don’t get this about guns is totally beyond me. They put helmets on their kids to ride bikes, to roller skate -American parents would have 50 strokes in 10 minutes if they could see the kids in Europe on their bikes, no helmets, swerving in and out of traffic. Some of them are almost hysterical about who is using the stall next to their kid in public bathroom.

But deadly weapons? No problem.

I do not understand.
