DHS Shifts Substantial Resources From Foreign Terrorism To Domestic Extremism | Talking Points Memo

True enough, but 9/11 taught me to respect the power of jingoism.

I agree. He might be first in line but we all know those weekend warriors are all lining up to get some kind of deal. No wonder they didn’t name themselves the Brave Boys.

Proud of what?

Oath to whom?

If they see they’re the domestic threat, will they neutralize themselves with a “QRF”?

Fish in a barrel. All you have to do is round-up all CPAC attendees and you’ll cut the heads off of thousands of snakes.

$20M is absolute peanuts. It’s twice as many peanuts as before, but compared to the risk these lunatics present, it’s orders of magnitude too small.

Uh, won’t they need to replace two thirds of their staff?

Irrelevant to him, now. They don’t have money to grift.

They seem to be acknowledging the intelligence that white supremacists are the most lethal threat

This is good and not to take anything away from that … but … let’s also keep it in sight that white supremacist terrorism is a global phenomenon being promoted out of Moscow

I’m pretty sure America was doing the white domestic terrorism thing long before there was a Soviet Union, or the current Russia.

This. The FBI and DHS peg domestic extremism as the most existential threat to the internal security of the nation. The can’t monitor it and defeat it on their own. They urgently need the help and cooperation of local authorities. And those local authorities get $20 million. Spread that out and it covers the cost of 100 cities MEETING AND TALKING about what to do.

So was Britain. You do realize that’s WHY Putin is pushing this, right? Because it’s a fault line he can take advantage of

In the description, DHS adds that domestic violent extremists and white supremacists are “the most persistent and lethal threat in the Homeland.”

I hope the grants are used for REAL education for the police stations first. We just had another scandal here about cops denigrating women - both fellow officers and the public - and the homeless and sharing racist remarks on facebook - we’ll never be able to enforce any law until the police believe it to be the right thing to do.

Facebook has another purpose…?

You mean that sound that is like when getting your boot stuck in deep mud and you keep pulling it out?
