This whole Orwellian Big Brother Department we call DHS needs to be carved up. The reason for creating it was that agencies weren’t communicating with each other, AKA protecting their turf. But by having this mega agency with so many spheres of responsibility isn’t working out either.

I have no problem with an agency that coordinates intelligence between agencies that dont always play nice and share. They don’t need to be doing anything else.

Only if they didn’t read the WaPo. It was public info that the streets were all being shut down and fed employees were being instructed to not go to their offices in the city unless they absolutely needed to be there.

I would also like to know if there was a recommendation to probe the communication between Trump’s Secret Service folks on Jan 6 and Pence’s folks??? If so, has such a probe been refused?

We all knew about ETTD when Chump took office. The only things he had succeeded at were staying alive and sticking other people with his problems. He failed and stuck other people with the losses. But it morphed geometrically by giving him the power of the presidency. His particular fungus of corruption grew towards the end that he corrupted you immediately. Probably the most visible example was when he went to Walter Reid with Covid, and we watched an entire scientific and medical facility, and everyone in it, lose their dignity and respect and professional standing the moment he arrived.
Imagine what all these other govt. branches were experiencing. He didn’t have to pull you into a room and ask you to do something illegal or put ‘the arm’ on you. He corrupted by osmosis, by mere presence. And the longer he was in office the more thoroughly, aggressively, and ‘by proxy’ he corrupted. By the end, every single thing he did was illegitimate. Everybody around him was living a completely illegal existence and there wasn’t a legal option available to any of them if they were to remain. Never seen anything like it, and hope to never again.

Not sure an outside body IG would help. In this case we had the DHS IG trying to oversee the SS. Seems that should have worked, but the problem appears to be the 2A-loving, confederate seditionists, Trump-humping traitors, right wing rednecks, whatever you want to call them, have broadly infiltrated every level of law enforcement in this country. Same issue appeared when the CPD stood down on Jan 6.

On March 6, 2020 Charles K. Edwards was indicted by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). A federal grand jury returned a 16-count indictment against Edwards. Which states that he allegedly stole both proprietary software and confidential databases from the United States government. Which was part of a scheme to defraud the government.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson put his agency’s former internal watchdog on leave within hours of the publication of a Senate report that concluded the employee was too cozy with senior agency officials and delayed or classified some critical reports to accommodate President Barack Obama’s political appointees.
Charles K. Edwards had been allowed to quietly resign as acting inspector general and transfer to another post within the Homeland Security Department in December, just before Johnson took office. But after Johnson reviewed the 27-page report from a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs oversight subcommittee Thursday he put Edwards on leave.
